I think Max's championship is relatively safe if he can just keep securing points. If Lando was at the front consistently then it's a different story, but you have Lando, Charles, Piastri and a potential Saiz or Merc up there fighting for wins, taking points off of each other, meaning no one driver is getting consistently high points which is what is needed to take the title.

Fantastic race overall though, really enjoyed it. Piastri did phenomenally well to cope with that pressure from LeClerc. Both he and LeClerc delivered masterful performances, it was an exhibition of how to be excellent.

Perez...eish. I put the crash mostly on him, he could have moved but didn't. Reminded me of the Monaco incident with the Haas.

Also see Sainz Perez as racing/idiot incident. Sainz was the one moving across the road, but Perez had all the space and could just moved away easily.

Yeah, both equally had a role and both had brain fart moment. I think if Perez played it a bit safe he would have had the inside to the next corner and could have pushed Charles over the next 2 laps for the 2nd place spot.

With 3 sprint races to come and Singapore next, plenty of points on offer to still catch Max. I agree that Lando won't win everything but I think it is safe to say that unless RB fixes that car before Austin, it will be a very interesting 7 races to the finish line.

And RB should be focusing on the triple header after the break. Singapore should be damage limitation at best.

That's what I mean though, it is only 7 races (plus sprints). Say Oscar wins another 2, Charles wins 2 and Lando wins 2. None of them beat Max if he scores points each race.

Yeah, I agree. I also don't think RB has just become a shyte team overnight either. I think they know where the problems are and will get the car semi competitive again by Austin. You could see it in FP, the car looked very good and basically on par with Ferrari and Mclaren and then the tinkering screwed up everything.

Max winning it is almost a foregone conclusion.

The bigger issue for RB is they might not even hold onto 2nd in the constructors. Speaks volumes about Checo - almost three-quarter of their points belong to Max...

It's getting to a point now that if the FIA doesn't rule one way or the other on the Macca's flexibles, there will always be that wiff of malfeasance when they win the Constructor's championship.
Isn't the compliance a static measurement under vertical and horizontal load which has to meet a specification?

Yeah, Ferrari looking very good atm and with Singapore coming, Ferrari could potentially push RB to 3rd. That would be salt on the wounds. It would have to be a case where one RB does not score again but it could happen.

This season has shades of 2009 when Jenson Button raced out to an early season lead for Brawn GP and then hung on for grim death as the competition closed in towards the end of the year.

In 2009, Button won 6 of the first 7 races and then didn't win again for the rest of the season; another 10 races. He was fortunate that, like this year, there wasn't just one driver racking up the other wins. Barrichello, Webber, Vettel, Hamilton & Raikkonen all stood on the top step at one or more races in the season.

Max is now in the same boat. As long as Norris, Piastri, Le Clerc (possibly Sainz and the Mercs too) keep splitting the wins and he keeps the points ticking over, he should have it wrapped up. It's going to be squeaky bum time towards the end though, that's for sure.

Yeah I agree. I don't think that is how Max wants it though.. he wants to earn it rather than just hoping for favorable results. Can't think that he will be a happy joyous chap if he does not win again this year and still gets champ. Be like "Yeah ok, thanks"

that was one good weekend

max car is furked

perez needed to take out mclarens not himself

but piastri and charles got more of a chance seeing they form vs norris at this title

The Ferrari that seems to have found some speed recently, might be the spanner in the works for Maclaren as they might be in the fight for the top spots that is needed for Norris. As soon as you have other cars in the mix, then Mclaren will have difficulty giving team orders

So I don't often read up on British drivers but tried to get some understanding why this guy is such an arrogant prick.
Now I see Lando's dad is very rich, which would explain the arrogance a bit. However I get conflicting articles whether his father paid for his seat at Mclaren in the early days. Figures of up to 40mil pounds are mentioned. And then Lando himself seems to deny it.

Interesting question actually. I wonder. He is legitimately there on skill, but a few pounds would certainly have helped grease the wheels I'm sure.

All of the drivers are arrogant to a degree, I think you need to be to some extent. But some drivers definitely take it too far, he's become a bit of a prick. Maybe Oscar will humble him.

Virtually every top driver is or was an entitled little prick, this is nothing new. Oscar is an exception to the norm...
