F1 - General discussion and 2017

The start, the pit stops, the team comms, the last couple of laps. The rest can fast forward... In fact for me the highlight of each race is the pre race build up...

Anyway, Ferrari have dropped the ball bigtime, Merc/Hamilton the beneficiaries. Disappointing culmination to what has been quite a gripping contest but being a Hammy fan I'll take it.... :p

Remember Ferrari had the same issues in the beginning of the Schumacher era. Eventually they got it right and then they rolled in the championships but this time round teams like Red Bull have made it a 3-horse race. Making matters worse is key team personnel have left under the Alonso era and there's still a rebuilding process going on.

Ferrari themselves are to blame for their current woes as they don't supply a customer engine on the level of Mercedes therefore they are missing out on valuable data. Toro Rosso is still running last year's spec engine.

The only person to blame, is Maurizio Arrivabene... Useless ****er that

I can't understand how he still holds that job.
Neither do I... Out of all the team principals, he is the most clueless and useless.

Don't know why Marchionne has not fired him yet, along with the entire engineers. Okay, pointless to get rid of them while the season is on going, but next season, if he is still there, then I'm not sure why.

These issues over the last few races are just ridiculous, and it's basically given Justin Bieber, I mean Hamilton the title on a platter

I think they've got the right engineers to catch up thus far with Mercedes. They need better strategists at the team. It's a problem lingering from last year along with the Team Principal. They could easily poach the expertise needed from the very successful AF Corsa team.

I don’t know guys, Japan notwithstanding, Seb has made some pretty poor decisions. Taking risks where they didn’t need to be taken.

Dave, just to let you know, Vettel has more championships than Lewis

I’m not sure how that’s relevant or that it would stop Vettel having the king of tantrums (or his supporters, for that matter), you reckon as he coasts to a stop with a broken Ferrari in Austin someone should pop out and say “don’t worry Seb, you’ve won more championships”.

;)

For a 4 time champion he sure makes many mistakes on crucial pole laps.

Michael Schumacher was a 7 time world champion, and he made many crucial mistakes in qualifying.

So did Hill, so did Senna, so did Mansell and others.

True but those guys pulled off pole with mistakes. I guess when you see Hamilton run it through the S's in Suzuka, everything else looks mediocre. Looks like USA will also suit Mercedes.

The championship is over no matter what Vettel does now. He can win all the remaining races, it won't matter, as there is no chance of the Mercedes having reliability issues

Iceman fervently trying to put a jinx on Merc :p
Not at all... It's back to the drawing board for team red, because had they not been making these amateurish mistakes, they had the pace to see Vettel becoming champion.

Ferrari biggest mistake for next season, was to keep Kimi on for 2018, and not attempt to take one of Ricciardo, Ocon, Perez or even Hulkenberg for at least a season.

Kimi is also a reason, why Seb is out of it, because he just does nothing in races, while Bottas at least shows he is competitive and takes points off Vettel.
