I think they should add services like these to your Vodacom4me profile so that you can cancel them immediately.

Yeah I agree, the networks are acting as billing agents so they need to take some responsibility IMO.

When they send you the msg again... There should be a contact number that you can call.. My gf had the same problem I phoned them and crapped them out. ITs basically a subscription service you just need to unsubscribe.

By law they should have an opt-out option in their sms (Same as emails)

As I understand it, WASPA regulations say that there must be an opt-out.

Usually replying STOP to one of the msgs should remove you from the subscription.

If not, contact the WASPA.

Consider it a lesson well learned. :)

Just received the following reply email:
Facebook Sales Support said:
Thank you for reporting this potential abuse on our site. Please provide the name of the advertisement that you saw on the compare people application so that we can look further into this. The more information we have, there will be a better chance to get the developer to remove this from their application.

Hey Scotty I have been in the exact same situation.

Its not a facebook scam btw, facebook is just showing regional ads like google ads almost. However facebook is going down. I have deleted all the applications and I just ignore all the requests to join stupid apps. There is nothing more irritating when you check your email and see that someone has "sent you a message" so you think "cool I haven't heard from that person in a while" only to be greeted with a request of some sorts to join zombies or some other pointless app anyways back to the subject at hand...

In my case someone else entered the info into a similar AD and then punched in the confirmation code that came up on my phone ( I left my phone on my desk when I was taking a dump). This person was playing a joke on me I presume.

I started getting sms's telling me that I am subscribed to some or other service and the SMS cost me R5. These kept on coming through every few week. I didn't really notice the difference to my airtime and I wasn't expecting to be charged for every sms I received. Then I noticed oneday that there was a sudden drop in my airtime, and I started to monitor my airtime. I thought Vodacom was screwing me over or something. Then when I got an SMS saying I have been charged R5 and I checked my airtime and saw that I was R5 down I got pissed off to the max.

One of the smses had a number to call and I called it. I got through to a company called Integrat. They are like a service provider. I sweet talked the guy into emailing me a log of what I was billed. Oh my gawd!! they took a few hundred rand off me over the period of a couple of months

I got them to deregister me telephonically. To make matters worse the company they are hosting the service for was from portugal. So it wasnt even like I was supporting local industry.

The guy on the phone basically told me it was a scam the way its setup to work.

The thing is that having a system whereby you have to punch in a number on the website to confirm your subscription is open to abuse. There should be a stronger form of authentication. Thats my 2 cents.

I actually need to follow this up again. I am pissed off again thinking about it. The motherfukkers!

The only way is to start over by re-registering again! and make a clean sweep!

First of all did you opt for such service, read there TOS.......
And see what the agreement is with such company. I’m highly paranoid when it comes to VAS – Preimum services, as some state one thing and chare another fee.

I think service providers, should enable on there services or incorparate... for example *10O+ and have an option to state, what VAS – Preium are you subscribed too.
