FaceIt-3GS, which lets you have FaceTime on a jailbroken iPhone 3GS. has just been released. You can grab it in Cydia via the iPhone Islam repo: http://apps.iphoneislam.com. In the meantime, share what you think about FaceIt-3GS.

some feedback on the tweak would be highly appreciated as i cant try it out for my self

Just get the Tango app. Allows you to make video calls over 3G and also works on the 3Gs ?

I tried last night to install the FaciIt 3gs to my girlfriends 3GS. all seemed to work fine, after the phone rebooted the facetime option was under the settings on her phone. So I tried to make a facetime call from my iphone 4 to hers but nothing, on my iphone 4 the phone was rining and attempting to make the call but nothing. so decided to remove faceit from the 3GS and thats when all hell broke loose. the 3GS rebooted after uninstalling and once the apple logo appeared a couple of seconds later so did the spinning wheel. and thats all it did, had to do a full restore this morning. I read on other forums that there are a few bugs still and some users have gotten it to work the first time and others (like myself) have had to do a full restore. I think im going to wait until all the bugs are worked out before i try it again (or curiosity might get the better of me and i might try it tonight again ;). will let you know..............

@Riazbapoo - I tried doing that first but still had no luck, tried many different ways but nothing worked for me. I read on the redmondpie forum that other people suffered the same consequences as me and the only way to fix it was to do a restore. Doesnt really bother me as it takes quick, so within 30minutes my phone was just like it was before I had to restore. I was reading last night that only a few iPhone 3GS's have gotten this to work without any problems. On a good note tho, I finally tested the "Tango" app out an it worked great. The only thing was that it took long for the other phone to recieve the call (it was ringing on my side but nothing on the other iphone), just as I was about to hang up, the call came through. So if you try it, you need patience, but the video calling feature worked great and whats best is that it is free in the app store and allows video calls over 3G.

they updated the face it 3gs app in cydia , go check it out again before giving up on it .... also to use facetime over 3g u should install my3g or facebreak

Yeah I saw the update. Gonna give it a try now and see what happens. Yeah I know about my3G but they want to charge yo something like $5 (if my memory serves me correctly) where as tango is free and available in the appstore. Not really bothered about facetime at the moment, not until you can properly use it, ie: with skype to pc's ect ect. So for the time being its more of a gimmick i suppose. Off topic quick but have you got a gamecentre account? If you do add me, my name is "weelzsa" (email address: [email protected]).
