Fallout 76

I would prefer it if they made it more Horizon Zero Dawn like in gameplay and duration.
But that would dramatically shorten the play time I guess.

I'd be rather disappointed if it's an mmo.

It being an MMO does just not sit well with the lore and feel of the game. Imagine the Wasteland with hundreds of people in it.

I am super excited about this. Have not been excited about a game in a very long time. Just hope they don't put in loot boxes and micro-transactions.

Saw the E3 reveal last night.
Yes, it is always online multiplayer and I see MANY problems.

First and foremost, other people.
Now the game drops you in a random server with a few other real people. (small servers with limited amount of people as it is supposed to be a wasteland. No problem with this)
They state that you can play the game completely solo, but as this is always online, you will have to deal with other people.
This means:

Trolls
Little Kids
Abusive people
People who kill you on sight

The reasons why I play mostly single player offline.

Second, emphasis on base building. The worst part of Fallout 4.

Third. Massive high damage enemies. And I mean massive. Makes a Deathclaw look like a radroach. How is a solo player going to deal with something like that?

Fourth. The other enemies look ridiculous. With other fallout games you could suspend your disbelief as the mutated enemies were still somewhat believable. The mutated monsters in 76 just look comical and over the top.

Lastly, actual functioning nuclear silos with usable atomic missiles. I can already see clannies camping these sites and bombing everything in site.

Will still wait and see post launch, but doubt I will be getting this.

Very disappointed for all the reasons above plus having it as an online game will kill modding.

I enjoy games like Fallout and TES etc. for the modding aspect, users just flesh out the world so brilliantly.

Oh well, guess they aiming for a different audience this time around, will wait for the next next hopefully RPG style release.

Might pick up 76 if it's on a massive sale, but doubtful.

When they said online only I lost all interest. Highly unlikely I'll ever buy this.

GTA: Online has taught me people are terrible in large public worlds. This Fallout game will be pure chaos.

Fallout 76 will not be available on steam

PC users can only play the game through Bethesda's new game launcher.

Fallout 76 dead before arrival

It's also not an MMO so you will probably connect to a world with predetermined slots and the likes

Doesn't matter where you have to launch it from - the biggest issue by miles is the online only. Most of the fun of Fallout and Elder Scrolls has always been the large quantity of mods, the engrossing story, being an overpowered deity of sorts etc.

ES: Online has none of it and neither will Fallout 76. The stream of ESO players running from checkpoint to checkpoint like an unbroken chain of ants is just ridiculous. I played for a few minutes and noped right out.

See my above post. It will still be missing the defining characteristics of what makes Fallout/ES games fun. No thanks.

Yea agree. I too am not keen on the idea. That being said. I have only last week bought Fallout 4 for PS4 and completed the starting area. I'm thinking of giving it a good go this weekend. Seems like an awesome game.

It will be dog crap no doubt. There are also no NPC's

It does matter where it launches from however. Massively so.
Nobody wants every new publisher to have their own launcher, because it's a hassle.
Steam, GOG, Ubisoft launcher, Origin
It's a fscking mess.

Steam is the most established, most stable and most user friendly.
Alienating your game from steam is a guaranteed loss of millions of sales.
Die hard steam users will not buy your game if it is not on steam, even if they were interested in it.

What in the actual fk. They should have called it Fallout: DayZ of our Rust. I didn't think it was possible to look forward to this game any less, but now I do. What a load of crap.

Quests are given through notes and terminals apparently.
Any other moving person is actually controlled by a living person somewhere.

Fallout 76's Deals With Griefers In Brutal Way; More PvP Details Revealed

Bethesda has discussed how Fallout 76 will deal with griefers, namely players that are intent on attacking and killing others, even when their target isn't interested in player versus player combat. As discussed during the game's QuakeCon 2018 panel by game director Todd Howard, Bethesda decided to turn griefers into content for other players by giving them a taste of their own medicine.

"We want this element of danger, without griefing," said Howard, who continued on to explain that when you shoot someone you do a little bit of damage. He equated this action to lightly slapping someone in a bar to see if they want to fight. The other player can choose to ignore this slap or engage, and if it's the latter you start doing full damage.

Those that don't want to engage in PvP but are still killed do receive some in-game justice. The player that kills someone who doesn't agree to combat becomes a "Wanted Murderer" and receives no rewards from their kill, whether it's caps or experience. This player also then appears on the map as a red star and has a bounty placed on their head. The money from that bounty is taken out the murderer's pool, and also, other players looking to cash in on that bounty aren't visible to the murderer on the map.

Players that are a higher level offer better rewards if engaged and killed. If you decided to do some PvP and are killed, you have the option to seek revenge. Doing so gives players the opportunity to get double the rewards, if they're successful on a second attempt.

PvP doesn't activate until level five, and there are options to block and ignore players. Additionally, you can choose to completely turn off the so called "slap" mechanic. When you die, the only consequence is that you drop the junk you're collecting, which is used to build. Armor and weaponry isn't lost upon death, so the only decision you have to make after dying is whether you want to go back and collect your resources.

However, there are stashes around the world and at your camp that can be used to store junk and keep it safe, so smarter players will no doubt be seeking these out and using them frequently to store precious materials.

Fallout 76's release date has been confirmed as November 14. A beta for the game will be held before its release. Bethesda has said the Fallout 76 beta will be available to Xbox One owners first, followed by other platforms. For both the beta and the full game, Bethesda will distribute directly to consumers instead of using Valve's Steam platform.

Like D3 and other online required games I'll give it a skip. I spend weeks at a time in locations with limited to no internet and as such I prefer my games to be offline (it's why I have given up playing MMO titles). I thoroughly enjoyed the Fallout series and will be a sad Panda if '76 goes the online route.
