Angry fans have declared war on Springbok rugby, demanding more players of colour in the national squad.

Supporters Against Racist Rugby Associations (SARRA) was launched in Mossel Bay at the weekend and things got off to a fiery start.

The group, supported by former Bok coach Peter de Villiers, set a Green and Gold jersey on fire, and said they will continue to destroy shirts until their demands are met.

National coach Heyneke Meyer is due to name his 31-man squad to play in next month’s Rugby World Cup on Friday.

De Villiers was the keynote speaker and told supporters even though he was the first Bok coach to beat the All Blacks five times, his achievements meant nothing to his South African Rugby Union (Saru) bosses and he was ridiculed in the local media.

What's PdV's record compared to Heyneke Meyer?

What a nice way to destroy any credibility he might have had as a future coach to ANY rugby team in the world. Stupid people are just stupid :D

They should be more worried about the fact that Frans Steyn is not part of the Squad no more. He is a game winner in tests. We needed his boot most of all.

Why has he not been employed since his firing from the Boks?

So if sport is not about winning anymore and more about colour then all these teams are doomed to failure.
Just look at Bafana Bafana and what a joke they are.
MERIT I say "MERIT".

He's useless drunk.

And EVERYONE knows he achieved what he did with JW's team. He did nothing special, or dare I say nothing at all :o

And left Meyer with building a new squad after that.

Peter de Villiers had a winning percentage of 62%. Meyer is currently on 65%.

To be fair, I think Bafana is picked mostly on merit. Although I could be wrong, as I don't really follow soccer.

If you're talking about transformation, he had 3 non-white players in the last starting squad he "coached", and one other on the bench, including a rosy total of 0 black Africans in the match day 22.

So yes, he should rather shut the hell up.

Not transformation, his total win/loss record and his win/loss record against teams.

That's very interesting. What's his win/loss compared to JW, excluding the World Cup?

Against Aus and NZ? How many tri-nations/rugby championships?

It is nonsense like this that contributes no small part in me not watching rugby and cricket anymore. Keep politics out of sport? Yeah right.

Just curious as to which is worse. People burning a Springbok jersey or Luke Watson's desire to puke on it...

How does that compute?

Meyer is building a team from just about scratch. De Villiers was handed a young World cup winning side
Only thing in PdV favour was his 5 wins against NZ. And even if you coached the Boks he had you would have gotten those wins. PdV was never a coach, he was a token darky with the best team of Springboks in the modern game.

Hardly a fair comparison, as De Villiers had 3 matches in a year that we had possibly the best and most experienced squad in the best form we've ever had, against a New Zealand team that was struggling by their standards. Meyer hasn't had that luxury. And yet his overall record is still better. That shows you how well he's done in other matches.

So you ignore the fact that PdV was given a World Cup winning team built from scratch by JW?

Even you could have coached them and had the exact same success. That is a FACT!

So PdV has a better record against NZ/AUS than Heyneke Meyer? Did JW had a better against AUS/NZ than PdW?

Exactly. Remember the allegations that the players were actually coaching themselves? None of them denied it, ever. Which they would've if it wasn't true.

I'm not a fanatic rugby fan, I only watch semifinals of the Super Rugby/Currie Cup and Boks matches against AUS/NZ, and the World Cup, so please give me stats.

Who won more Rugby Championships/Tri-Nations between PdV, HM, and JW?
What's the total win/loss record between PdV, HM, and JW?
What's the total win/loss against NZ/AUS between PdV, HM, and JW?

Please.
