Fat Acceptance Movement

What a load of BS. I am a fat fart that stuffed my face too much and now have to do something about it. No one has to accept anything.

Linking the word "Movement" to this. pffffft.

/off to the gym.

I know right? If there were any movement, maybe we wouldn't have the problem in the first place :p

Y'all are too funny. I never even thought of it this way.

Fattivist: I'm fat ; it runs my family
Me : No, you're fat because no one runs in your family :D

Ok, that was fat shaming. How very politically incorrect of me.

LOL!

I don't know how these people get to this. There is absolutely no pride in self destructive activities which you have control over. I am fat, I know it, and I know that its bad for me and I am in constant (loosing I may add) battle to try and fight it.

By this same reasoning, how dare we say anything negative about someone who uses heroin!!!

This is what I keep on saying.

Because that would be judgmental and, I dare say, bigoted even. Watch, we're all going to be bigots one of these days. The world has gone mad.

They'll just take the fat people's side because they identify with them.

/demands skinny police force to counter JMPD.

Just you wait.. Soon as I finish lunch I promise I'm telling.

Watched a interesting documentary the other day. Think it was BBC Horizon "The truth about fat". There is a Dr. le Roux (From SA) that discovered there are two hormones that was not known about before. The one signals when you are hungry and need food and the other signals when you are full and need to stop. In many obese people you will find that these two hormones are dysfunctional. Obese people's hormone that tells them they are hungry is very level compared to people that are thin or of relatively normal weight. They therefore always feel like they need to eat.

This I guess is only one of many factors, but it seems to play a big part in the worlds growing obesity problems, especially where energy rich foods is constantly in your face as opposed to the days when you had to go and hunt for food. /shrug.

Sounds like you are referring to ghrelin and leptin. Insulin also plays a role in regulating appetite I believe.

But yes, as far as I have heard, the problem is that adipose tissue (fat) is an organ itself, which few people realized until recently. Adipose tissue secretes hormones that regular hunger, so yes, being fat will make you more hungry.

You can see why it is a difficult cycle to break - this is why I do not judge fat people.
