Do you guys think Federer will at long last win his first French Open? I think this is his last/only chance - won't be this easy again!

easy peasy :p

i think he has way too much experience to lose it, but it depends which federer shows up on the day.

im calling:

7-5 6-7 6-2

to federer

p.s my tennis maths isnt up to scratch

I hope you are right and I hope the old Federer comes out to play. He certainly deserves it. Maybe for good attendance :p

oh. It is best out of 5 sets.

The_Pumpkin_King accidentally predicted the ladies final of tomorrow. :p

I really hope Federer takes this one, he went to 5 sets in both the Quarters and Semis now. Need to step it up a bit. :)

Predict a 5 set match, but this time Federer will finally get the last Grand Slam that has eluded him! :)

I'm sure Federer would rather win by beating Nadal, but he should do the next best and beat Sodderling who knocked Nadal out

I predict a 4 set win

If federer plays his old clay game ( the one where he dominates the back of the court) then he can win without a doubt, Soderling might get the underhand if he plays the drop shot and volley to much.

also federer won 9/9 of their last encounters.

I hope he wins.

Don't think he got tired in today's match.
Must be amazingly fit. He was hardly sweating, his shirt was totally dry and he wasn't breathing heavily at all.
I'd be dead after 30 min of tennis.

I really hope Federer wins, but wen sportsmen are face the the kind of records he is facing tomorrow, they tend not to win.

I think Federer is the greatest tennis champ in history and I really hope he can show his class tomorrow by winning.

Not even Pete Samprass was able to win in Paris!

online streaming of the game?

By the way...

I don't have a tv at home, but a 4MB ADSL line from Telkom. Now, I know that it's naive to believe that that means that you can actually do anything vaguely resembling "Broadband" like watching online videos, etc., but I'm still hoping and thinking of perhaps watching the game streamed at home, rather than in a bar.

However, the many inofficial, free, streaming sites out there usually offer only a really bad, pixellated, and buffered experience, especially from down here... (I've tried for the semis...). The only "official" streaming site that offers a fast stream (400kbps) and good quality seems to be The Tennis Channel, but that's a US service not available from SA.

Does anyone know of an _official_ (paying), but high-quality stream accessible from a SA IP address, that I might try out this afternoon?

Cheers

Have you tried www.Justin.tv?
Probably not the best quality but it is on local cap.
Its free BTW.

Yap, justin.tv is exactly what I have been trying, mostly, and it is not good for your nerves: always buffers exactly when the breakpoint is being played.... at least in my experience (combination of WebAfrica shaped SAIX account, and Telkom 4MB line).

Unlike Sampras, Federer has a good clay court games that took him close to the title many times. Unfortunately Nadal was always better on the day. A win against Soderling would be amazing.

I will say it forever. Pete Sampras in his prime was a better player than Federer in his prime.

Sampras also has the best looking wife of all tennis players.

Federer has by far a better all-round game then Sampras. But then again they were both great entertainers of their era and shouldn't be compared, unfortunately I never saw Bjorn borg or Mcenroe play.

Very good start by Federer. Already broke Soderling's serve twice. If first impressions are anything to go by, Federer will slaughter Soderling today.
