The really awesome feature is that Fedora have released on time for once.

Have started the download.

Do you think all those groups of 19 people getting killed was part of their Guerrilla marketing campaign?

Let us know how it is, I'm currently looking for a alternative that can handle compiz and firestarter.

Installed it on a very old machine that refuses to run Ubuntu anymore. The installation went without any problems – there are a few graphics artifacts in places which is to be expected with such an old card.

The post-installation updates totalled 290MB already. Gnome has been refined by leaving a little more stuff out and they are starting to introduce Win8 type mouse swipe gestures, especially to exit the lock screen (or you can just start typing your password to get by this).

Installed some stuff like Code::Blocks. So far everything has been running smoothly and without any hitches that can not be attributed to the age of the hardware.

So far it does not look like EasyLife, Fedora Utils, etc. are not available for 19, unless someone has seen otherwise.

I would like to go back to Fedora. I moved away because F17 was causing my machine to just lock up every couple of days and this was a big no-no for my raid setup.

Using Mint 14 now, but it's just not the same and feels sluggish and plastered together with spit compared to Fedora.

Stability is a big thing for raid. I am still running Ubuntu 10.04 on a Microserver using soft-raid. It is best to run this headless so that no one can see what distro is on it.

One solution that I have considered is going a step up from Fedora to one of the Red Hat spins for this. The only drawback is that they have limited support for the type of download software that one does not normally find on enterprise machines.

I've been testing F19 since the beta release without problems. Fedora Utils is available from https://github.com/satya164/fedorautils - just replace 17 with 19.

Fedora utils is still missing some codecs and the following still applies:

If you get a "MPEG video decoder not found" message on F18 after installing the extra repos/codecs with EasyLife/fedorautils:

Code:
yum install gstreamer1-libav

... will get you going.

Thanks, also got part of the way with this. I'm sure that the missing stuff will be available soon.
