Vodacom installed fibre in my complex on Saturday, on Dexter road. How good are they and how is their pricing? I am struggling to find any pricing on their websites. We also have poles installed in our street which I assume is by Fibrehoods. Should I was wait for them to finish the installation before deciding on getting fibre?

How did North Riding move from having limited fibre to different companies racing to install something?

Hi guys

Our complex was also approached by Initio360, they will doing the install (for free i think) and we will be locked in for three months.

Do you guys have any other ISPs that approached you and what was there offer? So far this is the only option o know of.

I'm on Blandford Road and there are no poles or trenching, I haven't heard if our body corporate has been approached. I thought I saw a trench the other day but it was just a pothole.

Fibrehoods are willing to trench in your complex if the cost per unit is below their threshold. They will be trenching in our complex, after their first survey indicated that they will be stringing Fibre from block to block, we asked them instead to trench and they agreed.
Fibrehoods noted that they will be handing over to Vumatel by the end of March, so they are looking to start install ASAP

We had a meeting yesterday with Initio, MFN will be live end of the month. the quicker you sign up the quicker they can do the install. Apparently a few complexes already signed up for ONT installations. Our complex hopes to have ont installed by then.

Any idea as to why your complex chose Vodacom over Fibrehoods?
Also could not find any pricing, but I assume Vodacom would prob expensive, and I dont think their network is open access.

I have no idea. The developer was marketing the new units as having fibre a few months back already so maybe Vodacom was willing to install it quicker than fibrehoods. The Fibrehoods poles outside the complex already have cabling so I wonder if we will have a choice between the two

We finally got the pricing over the weekend. They are;

100Gb at 10Mbps for R599pm
300GB at 20Mbps for R799
1000GB at 40Mbps for R1199
2000GB at 100Mbps for R1799

There is no uncapped option. They just mention that they are going to throttle the speed to 2Mb when you reach your cap

So they're cheaper when using 3rd party infrastructure?

Im assuming those are the latest pricing reported by MYBB, might be worth while to query with your BC why there is an increase in cost? doesnt seem justifiable especially if your complex had the fibre infrastructure internally already.

Vodacom are the ones that installed the fibre infrastructure. Seems like the developer specifically asked them to install it as Vodacom fibre is only in our complex. The complexes next to us will be getting fibrehoods, it seems

So... Vumatel has acquired Fibrehoods... yet they still running separate companies, so Fibrehoods installs can only use Fibrehoods ISP offerings, and not the Vumatel ISP offerings... so we only get a handful of options now.

probably going to go with the 100/10 uncapped for R1099 (no connection fee, free router) from Cool Ideas

Im not sure how true this is
I have spoken to the guys at Fibrehoods, and they have confirmed that they are installing the Fibre only and they will be handing over to Vumatel to handle the ISP part. I have also been contacted by Vumatel reps and they have sent me material indicating that all their ISPs are on offer.
