Fibre in Ramsgate

@AfriNatic
I think we are on the backup link again due to flooding - latency around 70ms to Durban

Getting latency as well.

Morning,

Yes unfortunately the main NLD between Port Shepstone and Durban is down as of early hours of this morning.

Please expect delays with repair work as technicians struggle to reach the breaks.

Multiple disconnects and bad packet loss this morning, lets hope FF can start repairs soon but I think we stuck for a while with this.

Morning,

We are investigating degraded performance on our DUR <-> JHB NLD's

We are are seeing packetloss and logged these with the vendors.

Seeing some packet loss with Openserve (Scottburgh, KZN) as well this morning, not major, but intermittent.

On the side note, mobile towers (MTN) still dead - I assume they connect to the NLD as well.

Well I would not describe current stats as "some".

Major for me.

Oh and I had to try 3 times to upload this pic - "Parsing response failed"

I'm a broker. I need to actually upload people's claim forms today.

1000/1000 line.

@AfriNatic please ask the guys to see what they can do. Not pushing anything nor blaming nobody considering the floods we just came out of. Just as soon as reasonably possible will do please.

Hi,

Frogfoot South Coast is currently experiencing an NLD outage to Durban which is causing degraded services. There is also issues with most NLD paths between JHB and Durban causing degraded performance.

We have rerouted traffic again to a better path that was previously problematic but it seems stable for now.

Apologies for the issues experienced.

Are you able to get any sort of feedback @AfriNatic? I see latency currently spiking to 5000+ at times.

We have lost our primary NLD again a few minutes ago and are on our backup NLD.

For now we are juggling the routes that we have and when they go down we reroute to what we have available. Unfortunately for now it's going to be an ongoing issue until the infrastructure damage is resolved.

I reported Openserve outage to afrihost too. I'm also on the south coast. Did you get any other reports from Openserve users?

Yes Nkosana did. But it was only a few minutes ago

Okay great. There might be some delays with faults due to the adverse weather. Network faults are prioritised over individual faults.

If you want me to follow up for you you can always drop me a pm. :)

Latest update from FF.

17-04-2022
Techs have diverted services on fibre via Teraco to Metiss. The distance changed from 154km to 179km. The loss is to high and techs now needed a repeater at Metiss. The team is currently busy installing the repeater so that power levels can be boosted and the link normalised.
