Fibre in Ramsgate

There is fibre people in the are where I stay, but my Link africa is supposed to be installed in the period of the next month aswell, so no idea... everytime I ask the trenches, or contractors in the area who they are digging for, they can't give me a clear answer

I think its a waiting game until we see some boards go up and flyers going around, they seem to be digging up around Hibiscus Mall as well.

Hopefully Uvongo will join soon as well.

They came to measure my road last week Saturday but no sign of them since then. Hopefully soon. The are now digging across the Tweni Spar so they should be done with the northern parts already. They cut 2 water pipes and one Eskom line last week alone. Nasty rains this week's probably delaying things a bit.

when will they go live in sea park and how to check?they did some fiber floating today and which is the best isp to get and can i place my order now or do i have to wait until they go live .I believe its frogfoot network

Digging outside my house now and they got a machine here to dig under the driveway.

Now I'm just wondering how long its still going to take before its active and I can phone an ISP for home install?

If they only dug now, you can probably expect another 3 months or so... if it's Frogfoot as per above, you can order from any ISP, by phone or online.

Damn, 3 months...

Was really hoping it'll be sooner.

Here in Scottburgh in our neighbourhood we had two companies installing, both started mid August 2020.

Linteg (now South Coast Fibre) was trenching.
Openserve was pulling aerial.

Openserve went live in November, so exactly 3 months. (althought my side of the hood only went live first week of December)
Linteg, there's been some delays as their infrastructure got acquired by South Coast Fibre... But it's March now and still not live, so 7 months and counting.

Nice. Gonna do just that.

Going all the way. Waited long enough. Have 2x ADSL lines and LTE (Afrihost R700+ Cybersmart R600 + Telkom R1000).

Can't wait to cancel all of that rubbish.

Btw, that coverage map is still a bit behind. My side of the road has fibre in already and is closed up. They are now digging on the other side of the road.

guys what do you think about the packages?a tad too expensive i think seeing that people on openserve network with Mweb are paying R499 for 20 up and 20 down and they have just recieved free upgrades to 25 up and 25 down and they are phasing out the 10Mbps and 20Mbps services.

yeah it's still too high for me, so I'm going to keep on with my Supersonic LTE for the remainder of the two years until hopefully they start dropping prices and / or doing speed doubling for free
