That is awsome thanks. Any eta on the update for the site so we could create a plan to suit our budgets?

No exact ETA unfortunately, but I'm pretty certain that at the very latest the Gigabit MySpeed option will be on our site before we are ready to connect the first customer in Secunda ;)

(Most likely before then, though)

I also don't have a problem with contracts per se as long as there's a fair opt-out clause. With cellular it would be paying any outstanding amount on the handset or handing it back. Here it would be any outstanding amount on the installation. If however the service doesn't perform reasonably there shouldn't be any outstanding amount to pay and they can come take back their line if they want to.

One thing I will not do however is sign a debit order. Too many people have been burned by those and I will rather pay by eft.

I noticed there are a lot of links on the web page that show Capture.JPG

this may cause some concern. a LOT of new people are finding out about your services. It is a humble suggestion that the site be made rock solid to avoid some people going "oh **** red flag! red flag! red flag!" as it has been pointed out that us South Africans are quite observant. and the antics of our government made us somewhat jumpy in terms of seeing something that might cause suspicion.

You will find people that are most certainly going to fine comb the website to justify the means of their investments.

I'm pointing this out so that you guys can nullify possible trolls rampaging the forums screaming scam scam scam...

Any eta on that contracts... having my hands full here trying to convince the sign-ups to stay loyal, since no emails have been recieved yet... I still have faith, but many has lost theirs

Hello Henry,
Sometimes I wonder myself, how things are running in South Africa (at all).
We had to wait a lot of time just for ICASA or the new contracts to be prepared, or for many other administrative stuff. In Europe we are used to do things much much faster. But in any way, things are happening in the end.
I am not sure that an email every week saying the "we are still waiting for ICASA or etc" is a good news. Our staff has published the licenses immediately after we got them from the regulator. We are investing (and have already started) millions and billions in the South Africa project (including Secunda). But a network doesn't appear for a day. As we have already stated: we are ready with the planning - which is the hardest part. Now, that we have the documents ready - we are waiting for the machinery to be delivered and we start digging with the staff we are hiring. We have also arranged the link to your town: this is also a hard part btw. In order to be feasable, we needed special requirements for the speed and the price. ;) We know what we are doing.

South Africa is the land of empty promises, so you shouldn't take the worry/skepticism personally Kalin.

Like I said. South african people have become jumpy they have the doubt virus which spreads faster than any other disease on earth.

Any little thing that might trigger them to think. "Meh it's not going to happen" will then be inevitably spread to other positive people. And so on and so forth.

I dont know about them. But I knew this was going to require patience from the first day the announcement was made 123net is coming to secunda.

I've seen how serious and aggressively this plan is unfolding. People just need to wait a bit. In the end it will be worth it.
 
@Kalin, welcome to South Africa, here anything goverment related will take africa time to complete. Btw thanks for the email, should keep some more ppl happy till the next communications.
Quite excited about the fibre, and is really fedup with uselesskom. How is things progressing in Umhlanga? Hope all goes well and looking forward to September.

Signed up trough your site for the Secunda area, and got one of my work collogues to enquire also :)

Questions though:
Is 123 Net Fibre going to use the Dark Fibre Africa cables?
What is the procedure to get a cable to my house? Must I inform every household in the street where the cable is going to pass trough etc?
