Fibre: Secunda Community

Is 123 Net Fibre going to use the Dark Fibre Africa cables?
What is the procedure to get a cable to my house? Must I inform every household in the street where the cable is going to pass trough etc?

We will be laying our own fibre, and if you have signed up on our site, then we will make sure that the cable gets to you - Don't worry about your neighbours.. The only permission you would need to get would be from your Landlord if you are renting a property :D

Just saw this now!

Signed up trough your site for the Secunda area, and got one of my work collogues to enquire also :)

Questions though:

Hi there and welcome to my thread.

1: nope they will be putting in their own infrastructure. And they will be the soul owners of their network.

2: when they have laid the fibre you will be contacted when they are in your area. I believe they use the signups to plan area for area. Assuming they will do the homes clustered closer together first as it will be easier and quicker. I don't think you have to inform anyone. The planning will be done by 123Net.

Thanks for providing answers!

I am definitely going to use the service then if that is the case. My DSL has gone to being unstable as of late (sync issue) and according to Telkom there is nothing wrong. And Vodacom prepaid data just cost too much per gig.

Telkom technicians couldn't even understand me when I tried to explain copper oxidation and corrosion.which over long periods of time cause extreme noise on the line Our copper lines are still 25 years old. So I feel your pain.

And vodacom.. don't get me started ranting on that. R2 A MB.. downloading one series episode will cost you R750 on out of bundle rates.

It's time to make telkoms like these understand that their competition is going to take their golden chicken and actually care for it.

Another week closer wooohooo.
How is the intrests in the job aplications going 123net? Just curious since that will influence when the digging will start ;)

So is 123Net starting their FTTH rollout in Secunda?
