As a fan you can hope for a draw, but that is a very bad mindset to have as a player or coaching staff.

Some teams might be in easier groups. I did not argue against that. We are one of those teams. We are not playing a top team. Mexico was pretty shít and nobody recognize the Asians as real competition yet. Who thinks South Korea can actually win the world cup?

I would be happy if South Africa plays attacking soccer and get some shots on target. If they then go down 7-1 to really better team that is fine. It would be better than whatever we did against Mexico.

We need 4 points minimum. Ideally 6 points. So we now have two must win games. They should play to win, not for draws.

I mean, SA, Senegal, Morocco and Egypt are all AFCON winners. You're not devaluing the tournament, are you?

Based on this it should be 50/50 between us and Czech tonight. Bookies has them as heavy favourtites but we are much better than the Mexico performance betting on us to win tonight.

I still cannot reconcile myself with the mistakes the goalkeeper was making trying to play from the back, it stresses me that we conceded like that, if we continue like that we are fair game to anyone.

At least we now have nothing to defend, which should be to our advantage.

Did you forget that Saudi beat Argentina last WC? It's football: literally anything can happen, which is why we've seen more "big" teams draw against the minnows so far this tournament.

So is Ivory Coast and Ghana, the difference is that Ivory Coast and Ghana were Afcon winners playing nobodies and SA, Senegal, Morocco and Egypt are Afcon winners playing World Cup winners.

It should be a very simple concept to grasp.

Yeah maybe. I didn't just give people points for winning and didn't watch all the games.

So I did a little exercise.

If you take all the rankings for each group and get an average. SA is in the 5th easist group. B 42, E 37, H37, G35 , A 35.

If you just take the top 2 teams rankings because is is safe to assume they are going through then SA is in the 2nd easiest group, with B being the easiest group.

Oh, I grasp it alright. But what you're effectively saying is that African teams are ****, and should've had appropriate draws to help them along. This is football, there is no BEE, AA or DEI. You just have to play whatever is put in front of you. If you don't beat them, you don't deserve to go through. It's just that simple. No point whining about the draw. You just weren't good enough.

The fact that a team even made it to the last 48 of the tournament should show they're at least slightly competent.

And moaning about Senegal vs France is a bit tongue in cheek, when you consider that probably 75% of the current French squad is probably Senegalese.

The last AFCON was such a shtshow.

I don't want to support Morocco because how they handled that.

I hoped Senegal would do better, but France was really good.

Playing for a draw is one of the most fundamental and necessary tactics for a weaker/unfavoured team.

Yep, I'm expecting it tomorrow night when Scotland play Morocco, who are heavy favourites, and a draw would likely see Scotland qualify for the next round.

This is just Cope.

That's why weaker teams will always be weaker. They lack believe which is fundamental to succeed in professional sport.

I'm not new. I just don't watch as much club soccer as some.
