Well colour me totally unimpressed.
This was so loud that I was certain a plane was crashing in my suburb.
It flew at least 3 circles around us, unannounced and out of the blue. It's the loudest thing I've ever heard in the environment - and I've been to Farnborough a couple of times.
Every instinct was urging me to gather my loved ones up and dive under cover, but instead I ran outside and swore like a trooper.

The Atlas Cheetahs were upgraded/improved/modified aircraft that were originally Dassault Mirage IIIs (made in the 60s). They added canards (little winglet/control surfaces) to the front of the original delta wings, and there were tons of other modifications. The Cheetah updated made them multirole, the Mirage III were more limited in their scope.
The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a wholly modern, new built, multirole combat aircraft. They have the same Delta wing/canard combo as the Cheetah, by coincidence.

Funny you should say that.
There was an unusually low-flying chopper about 15 mins before the arsehole in the Gripen.

as a social experiment i think we should put some taxi drivers in some gripens...

You get the rare opportunity to see one of our fighters flying low over you and its as if he is ruining your whole world.

I would go to an airshow if I wanted to see that.
And I have, in the past.
Unwanted? No.
It's also funny how some people who pitch a fit about fireworks every year are in raptures over this.

There's usually one in May at Swartkop AFB and then Sep at Waterkloof for AAD.

It's actually quite simple. My dog is frightened of fireworks, but she doesn't seem to mind the jets at all. I've never had a dog that was frightened of jets.
