Yip I think I was particularly unlucky in this situation. I would still buy another macbook, but I won't touch the current iMac not after reading 100's of posts from people across the world having the same issue. Some people were unfortunate that it was out of warranty and had to pay to have them fixed. That coupled with cores uselessness doesn't inspire confidence to buy one again.

I agree, even though they look so pretty... It's best to avoid the iMacs re Core's crappy after sales service, for example: I once asked them what would be the cost to add a 256Gb SSD drive to an IMac bought initially with only a SATA HDD. In the USA the same upgrade would have cost ~R8500 including parts; Core's quotation was ~R13500 (more than half the price of the original purchase)

Btw you can get close to the spec of the iMac by choosing a top end Mac Mini and a 27" inch display + you can easy self upgrade the RAM & HDD of the mini.

The MacBook Pro is still I believe the better compromise -- portablilty, battery life & a decent screen, and it's easy to self upgrade RAM & HDD.

Trust me we all wish Apple would choose to open up in SA and replace Core, or relegate them to just another reseller.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of that gen's iMac owners that translates to.
 
I know the Apple mobile devices don't offer Flash - do the iMacs and things?

Apple wouldn't "offer" flash on any device, it's an adobe product so they would be the ones to "offer" it.

As for OsX devices - of course, and that gives us a pretty good indication just how bad flash would most likely be on a iOS device.
