hopefully heaven but probably hell
I dont know about you guys, but Firfox since version 2.0.0.5 has started to become unreliable.

At work and at home it tends to sometimes never start up. It has this strange behavior of lagging at the oddest times (even with no tabs open). I am finding myself starting to use IE again more and more not because i want to but because i have to as firefox is in my oppinion turning into a sloppy browser.

pity to see this happen. Hopefully they manage to sort out these problems which seems to be a common thread when searching for solutions on Google.

More a case of the OS it is running on, Halicon.
Only so much magic Mozilla can pull.

Working perfectly on seven systems (both Windows and Linux) here!

Using Firefox 3 beta 2, perfectly stable and had no problems so far...

On a serious note, although I am not agreeing with Halicon, but my Firefox is also a bit sluggish. Not to the extent of unreliability as in Halicon's case, but it does seem like it hangs every now and then.

Anti Virus, Firewall perhaps Halicon?

It works fine for me, but ever since FF2 it's been hogging RAM like crazy.

using FF on both xp and suse10.3. no problems on either

dunno. i have used AVG foreva and i have used ZoneAlarm forever. It is ever since the 2.0.0.5 updates and beyond.

and judging by the the amount and frequency of these updates mozilla have obviously made some serious errors and are trying to fix them. its been 6 updates in the space of 3 months? thats like 2 updates a month?

mozilla is beginning to remind me of vista and its update fetish.

@ halicon - these updates are security updates. As soon as a vulnerability is discovered, they push out updates which will fix these.

Perhaps you pc is infected with microsoft

more like it is infected with another highly overrated open source product with poor support and a geek community too blinded with misty zeal to consider making it work on the most used operating system in the world.

the above reason is the main reason why Linux and other open source initiatives will ALWAYS be overshadowed by products you can buy.
