First car - any suggestions?

Haha, you never know, apartments handed down to them as an inheritance? Then dont know whether he/she wants a Bentley or a Lambo, because he just loves VW :ROFL:

Some points to consider
1 make sure it's insured for retail value
2 you should have credit shortfall cover for the first 3yrs
3 check the excess and additional excess's ie under 25 licence less than 2 years
4 check roadside assist
5 check car hire if you have a claim
6 check the use of the car is correctly insured ie pvt, professional or business
7 check all possible drivers are covered
8 way up discount vs cost of tracking system
9 check if premium is different and cheaper if you add house contents cover

The above are basic things to check and consider

I suggest you get a good reputable insurance broker


PS nice choice by the way they are great cars.

The new Hondas are the crappiest of cars. Manufactured in India. Owned Ford, Nissan, VW's - Honda was my worst buy. Have a 2017 Ballade, considering trading it in for a VW product. After sales service is a nightmare. Waited 2 weeks for brake pads and wiper blades from the dealership. This was just 1 of my many woes.

There are Hondas made in India, cheap and nasty and there are Hondas made elsewhere, don't generalize as if all of them are made in India, thinking about it almost all manufacturers have models made in India in their range, Toyota, Renault, Ford Hyundai and Nissan.

anyone with brolink (santam)? I've got some quotations using the Ctrl app, and their premium is R 400 less than santam's quotation (which I got via telephoning them directly), even with house content insurance. Anyone claimed from them? Is there a catch..?!

Also what incentive do insurance companies have in installing immobiliser in vehicles? why do they give discount if you allow them to install them

cant go wrong with Santam, BUT as with ALL insurance read the fine print and understand what you covered for

Always been told Honda or Toyota is #1 is reliability. just out of curiosity - how can you tell which is from india and which isnt? are there specific models

Reading car news, mostly the reviews when it's launched, there could be other easier ways but that's how I do it. Indian made cars are weird looking things in general so it is most easy at times, think of any weird car from Toyota or any other brands and chances are its made in India, Etios, Brio, BRV, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra active, Kwid, Datsun Go, a couple of Suzuki models and many others, some are better than others quality wise.

And you were not lied to about Honda and Toyota's reliability, it's still the case, just not on the Indian made cars.
