I'm back, sorry for not checking this thread. I'm still waiting for the oil, they some how lost my order, I phoned on Monday and they're taking R100 off the pricing because of the mess up(which I'm not moaning about).
They said either Thursday or Friday, I'm actually really getting impatient and excited all at once heh heh.Talk back soon.
Mineral oil or liquid petrolatum is a by-product in the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline. It is a transparent, colorless oil composed mainly of alkanes (typically 15 to 40 carbons) [1] and cyclic paraffins, related to white petrolatum. It has a density of around 0.8 g/cm3.[2]. Mineral oil is a substance of relatively low value, and it is produced in very large quantities. Mineral oil is available in light and heavy grades, and can often be found in drug stores.
Impatient.......

You and me too. lawl. I'm still waiting actually. I'm going to phone them tomorrow and ask what's happening. But I promise that it's going to happen.Still waiting for the oil
As for the HDD question above. It's not submerged. I glue-gunned it to the inner top of the highest part in the tank. Fits perfectly, no oil going to touch at all.
Why not use distilled water?

That being said how is the oil actually cooled in this system, is it circulated, or does it just rely on natural heat currents (heat rising) and contact with air?
