Also...if you think about it...if you have R0.00 as the limit...it will either lock it emmediately or it wont give the system enough time to lock the line really. Think R50.00 is used as kind of a buffer to give the system some space to work with.

In the absence of realtime contract billing, the lock will only engage in a seemingly random way beyond R50 especially if you are constantly using your SIM for voice/data/messaging.

Call Limit is not a substitute for watching your contract usage like a hawk.
 
If you're roaming internationally and using some data you can probably do over R300 per second...

Thank goodness many international areas have free wifi hotspots.

Go international = 2 phones. One with my sim (usually the kak phone), one with a local sim.

Cheaper every time.
 
Honestly the simplest option to manage your phone bill is to go for the Topup contract + data bundle. Simple, easy. Need more, top up.

How about a super simple rate - R0.99/min and R99/GB?

True, that is the simplest option.

Some of us would like a bit more flexibility that is currently not available on Topup contracts, like Multi Data SIM that allows a single data bundle to be shared and used simultaneously across several devices. Multi Data SIM is only available on contract (not Topup).

If Vodacom could get its act together and provide Multi Data SIM on Topup contracts, they would be leading the way again in the broadband data market (although a drastic data bundle price reduction would offset the need for sharing of data bundles across multiple devices).

Jannie has stated that implementing realtime billing on contract is a priority for Vodacom, which is great but when will this priority get to the top of the list and be implemented?

Vodacom has been selling access to its 3G network since December 2004 (IIRC), this started with 3G data on contract (no realtime billing); prepaid and Topup data arrived circa 2007 with realtime billing, it is now halfway through 2012 and contract data still does not have realtime billing.

+1 Multi-sim would be great:)
 
Bottom line.

If it costs vodacom anything, as in anything at all they won't do it.
