Nice moire there :p

I was working out on my exercise bike and I play some virtual bike rides from YouTube on my Xbox. Suddenly the video was freezing and it downscaled from HD to 480p or something.

Clicked the X button to see that MSFS was busy updating. I haven't played today, but saw some articles later in the day about the new update and can only assume that's what was happening.

Will check back on it again when I have time.

Let me update this on my Series X.

This is my go-to game to show people the power of the Xbox and my 65" LG OLED, the game looks stunning.

Well, on my Xbox SX, since the latest update, a 3rd of Centurion, Midrand and Jhb buildings are now 2D images on the ground, and most of the highways are dirt roads.

They were fine before the update.
I deinstalled and reinstalled everything (what a bugger) and no change.

Same thing in Dublin.
Pretty frustrated.

Yeah sorry I didn't like how it looked before took off from OR Tambo and I couldn't figure out where the hell to go terrain looked terrible. Highways floated, so buildings were 2D some were terrible 3d, the cars kind of floated on the roads and every road that wasn't a highway looked like dirt.
I mean honestly the game actually felt like a step back from FSX, even the plane graphics weren't that special and I'm on the X.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Game of the Year Edition lands on November 18 with DX12 support - Techspot

A free update for existing Microsoft Flight Simulator players

Xbox has announced a new edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator due out next month that adds a wealth of content and features including early access to DirectX 12.

Best of all, existing players won't have to pay a single penny to upgrade to the Game of the Year edition.

Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, revealed in a recent blog post that the Game of the Year Edition will include five new aircraft – the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, the VoloCity, the Pilatus PC-6 Porter, the CubCrafters NX Cub and the Aviat Pitts Special S1S – as well as eight new airports across Central Europe and the US:

Germany
Leipzig/Halle Airport (EDDP)
Allgäu Airport Memmingen (EDJA)
Kassel Airport (EDVK)

Switzerland
Lugano Airport (LSZA)
Zurich Airport (LSZH)
Luzern-Beromunster Airport (LSZO)

United States
Patrick Space Force Base (KCOF)
Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (KNKX)

The release will also add information about 545 previously missing airports in the US in addition to featuring six new missions, 14 new tutorials, an updated weather system, a dev mode replay system and new photogrammetry cities.

The biggest addition here is support for DirectX 12, which Neumann referenced as “early access to DX12.” Unfortunately, he didn’t elaborate, so we’ll have to wait to see what exactly it entails.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Game of the Year Edition launches on November 18 and will replace the standard edition. Pricing hasn't yet been shared, but the original edition currently commands $59.99, so that's a safe bet.

Best yet, it’ll be available as a free update for existing players on Xbox and PC.

Have you noticed that all the houses in SA have old tyres on the roof like some third world island **** hole. How do we get them to change that?

Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox controller goes up for pre-order on Wednesday - Polygon

VelocityOne Flight costs $379.95, limit 2 per customer with limited quantities available

Headset maker Turtle Beach announced in June that it was entering the flight simulator market. Now its newest controller — compatible with Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows 10 — is going up for pre-order.

Called the VelocityOne Universal Flight Controller, the $379.95 device will be available starting at 12:00 p.m. on Nov. 3. There’s a limit of two per customer.

Turtle Beach’s offering has excellent provenance. According to a presentation given during the annual FSExpo, the engineering is being handled by some old hands from Saitek, makers of the venerable X-52 and X-56 platforms. (That company was acquired by Logitech in 2016.)

Official descriptions note that it will include Hall effect sensors, optical encoders, and stainless steel components as well as an integrated multifunction display panel and status lights. It should be just the thing for flying without a keyboard.

Note that there’s no official word yet on when it will start shipping.

I missed the mailer by like 5 hours and then they were already sold out when I made it to the link :D

This is the 1 I've been waiting for.
Hopefully it slows down in a couple of months and we can manage to get it here.

That one and the Honeycomb yoke are indeed the ones people are raving about.

That said, i got the Thrustmaster TCA Airbus edition joystick and use it for all sorts of flying. Like they say, if you have both, the honeycomb is the best for flying, but if you can only choose one, get the joystick. it's an absolute dream on the Airbus A320 and the spitfire.

i'm VERY tempted to get the F-14 tomcat as well.

Thrustmaster and Boeing collaborate on $500 flight yoke and quadrant - TechSpot

Authentic Boeing Dreamliner flight controls in your own home

2021-11-18-image-30.jpg

Thrustmaster announced on November 9 the pre-order details and availability dates of the TCA Yoke Boeing Edition and TCA Quadrant Boeing Edition, which they plan to sell individually and bundled.

The idea is to recreate the controls of a 787 as closely as possible in the comfort of someone's home. The peripherals will be compatible with both Xbox consoles and PC.

The yoke—the steering wheel for a plane—is a full-scale replica from a 787 Dreamliner with 100 percent metal internals. Its pendular system replicates the swing of a genuine floor-mounted Boeing control column on a desk or table.

It features 18 action buttons, including official Xbox buttons, and a mini-stick controller for mapping options. It also includes a stand for a mobile device, among other features.

The quadrant, which includes the throttle controls, is also meant to replicate what one would find in an actual Boeing. It has 17 action buttons of its own, three axes, and four swappable levers for extensive per-game customization.

However, Thrustmaster designed both peripherals to simulate airliners and private planes as opposed to fighter planes.

Users can also pair both devices with Thrustmaster's separate pendular rudder and rudder pedals.

GOTY edition is pretty cool. It's fun flying the F18 around.
Playing on the XBOX I have noticed some more automation though? Like the planes flaps/throttle/rudder are automated. A new setting for noobs that I can turn off I hope.
