Inlaws just have huge issue they only have 4 hour layover to get from heathrow to London city in peak time to make next flight. But that's up to them to sort out

Hour odd yep , but it's multiple trains also. Heathrow passport control is sometimes 2hours to get though.

Push comes to shove, endure the cattle class & have a nice holiday.

You can do it in the least-impactful way by tiring yourself out during the day and flying at night, equipped with ANC ear/headphones, neck pillow, eye mask, etc.

I expect that most people who have tk choose would rather do the cheap flights, since it’s a smaller proportion of the time, but this is a pretty narrow band of people. Most people who fly business/first don’t compromise on holiday/hotel quality though - they can afford both.
