Has anyone else noticed that they are extremely expensive possibly the most expensive bank. They charge you for almost any transaction and I find it extremely annoying that they charge me to transfer money between my FNB credit card and my FNB cheque account. To make it worst they keep charging monthly charges on to my credit card and then I have to pay freaking R3 every time I transfer money to my credit so I dont get charged interest. Retarded bank, I regret signing up with them.... should of gone to Absa!

Nope, I use their electronic fees option and fees for my transfers and debit-card payments are capped at R86 p/m. Compare this with ABSA or Nedbank's monthly fees

There have been a number of threads bashing ABSA over the last year.
There are quote a few that praise FNB.

I've used ABSA for around 20 years myself.
I reckon all banks are the same at the end of the day.

Have a look here : http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/search.php?searchid=12394245

i have a cheque account with FNB and i am quite happy with their service. Also i only pay R70 per month for my account and all cellphone and internet banking is free....

I have to admit though - their card fees are quite high and they have real ugly cards....

I actually still have my Nedbank account which I have since my campus days but can only use it for another year or so.... I pay R12.50 a month for internet banking and thats it..... I was under the impression that most banks offer this service if you keep a certain minumum in your bank account you don't pay for bank charges

Some business article in the Sunday Times last week or the week before that actually said FNB was the most expensive while Nedbank was the cheapest.

I try to keep my FNB cheque above R8000 to qualify for 35 free transactions per month although I've had to fork over exhorbitant amounts when companies ignore my instructions and decide to debit my account out of the blue.

From what I understand, Nedbank's got new bank charges starting this month and they've dropped their Internet banking, etc to R15 / month instead so I may actually keep my Nedbank account after all.

fnb ftw , I have used fnb for the last 25 years.

Currently the option of R66.00 covers everything, no need to go for other options

Just find out from your branch.

It really makes a difference.

Electronic is just so muhc more cost effective, at all banks not just fnb , that is just a fact.

With FNB-charges capped at R66. Internet banking; In Contact both free. Service second to none.
@OP: any movement of cash out of an cc apart from swiping is considered a cash advance and is subject to a hefty fee homework before rant in future see?

In my experience FNB is actually one of the cheaper banks. You just need to figure out how you use your account and then select the most cost effective fee structure. With my business cheque account I only use the online banking, so the "Pay as you use option" is ideal for me. I never pay more than R40 p/m for charges (mostly EFT's). That's opposed to ABSA's R80 p/m excluding internet banking.

FNB's free internet banking an inContact is arleady a huge plus. With ABSA you'll have to pay a monthly fee to allow you to use internet banking and 40c per SMS notification (that was the last time I checked).

Also capped at 70 odd bucks on my FNB cheque account. Quite happy :)

Thumbs up to Fnb's service, but there charges are astronomical .So i thinking about changing over to cheque account which is less in monthly charges .Remember the bank never looses

On the cheque account the charges are high.Even the R66 per month is to much.Well depends on how much you use your account. The lowest is getting a smart debit card.Cheque accounts even pay as you use is high.
