I've been experiencing trouble logging into the banking app over Wifi - my partner has the same issue. The app screen goes cloudy, as if it is loading, but then suddenly just stops and re-loads the home screen. If I turn off Wifi and use my data then I login with no trouble at all...

I thought this might be related to my ISP somehow, but I switched over to a new provider as of today and it's still giving the same problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It sometimes takes a while to load (my home WiFi can be quite hit and miss), but opening it now and having a look around the app, it's pretty fast and working well.

It must be something on your network or router causing the trouble.

Are you running some kind of DNS blocker or other special configuration?

No problem with the App here.

It’s an awful app... Will try go that route and see.
Ya no think it was a great app back in 2011 when it was the only one.
Other institutions have a superior simple layout these days.. Dark mode support for ages on iPhone to name a few. Better integration with FaceID/TouchID
Example below Absa and Nedbank

Nope nothing at all. I asked FNB and they sent me some ports I need to send to my ISP... Said it could be that?

Is it one of these small fry local ISP’s that run only in your area or complex? Then it’s very possibly that.

So if everyone else’s functionality is working flawlessly and you are the only odd one out is it the app or the user ??

Do you have a vpn, do you have a jailbroken device do you have the latest iOS and app from the store.

Have you used the app on this device before ??

Have you tried to access via different service providers - changing the service provider from where you’ve logged in disables some of the functionality from a security perspective.

Seriously? I'm not a total idiot (I don't think!)... I have been an FNB customer for about 20 years and used this app since it was first introduced with absolutely no problems. My device is not jailbroken, I am running the latest version of iOS and the latest version of the app, and have used the app on this exact device over my WiFi before with no trouble. The problem started when they released an update to the FNB app around 3 months ago.

I don't use any VPN's or any IP blocking services or anything like that. The router has absolutely no configuration amendments or anything on it - everything is as it is out of the box, with all setups as guided by the ISP.

Hmm then it’s unlikely them.

I’ve used the FNB App on their network recently.

So back to it being your router doing something funny then.

Any suggestions? Absolutely everything else on the network works perfectly. All my apps on my phone, my Samsung TV (Netflix, etc), iPad, Laptop through Ethernet, etc. The ONLY thing that doesn't work is the FNB app.

Sidenote: My SO is also with FNB and the app doesn't work on her iPhone either on our WiFi network. So it's definitely not a device issue.

App working fine on my iPhone. iOS V13.3

What I have learned from owning an Apple is to avoid the updates unless it's a major update. I've experienced too many issues with things breaking or phone slowing down after doing an update.

Ok so. I deleted the banking app off my phone, and re-installed.

I was able to go through the whole biometric authentication process, etc. etc. and then as soon as it's setup and says "you can now login", I am unable to do anything again. And now it isn't even working over mobile data!

Guess it is time to download another bank account.. ;)

Honestly I have read all this and thought to myself maybe it is your online profile with them that has some sort of a problem but you are saying your SO has the same problem so rules that out...I assume your account and SO account are not connected in anyway or form?

That's my thinking too. I've responded to them and told them the latest so let's see what they have to say. I'm fairly sure it isn't a problem with RSAWeb.

Nope, no connection with our accounts at all.
