FNB Connect Uncapped ADSL Feedback

No!!!! Thanks for the update Serpent, now to go read through the rules and see what changed!

Dammit, you are right!

No longer earn eBucks on prepaid electricity or get a discount on your monthly Uncapped ADSL Data subscription, but instead enjoy new ways to earn eBucks.

And on top of that, you need to cancel by the 25th to get the free ADSL. It's the 26th so now there's R400 going to waste.

Received this email just now: FNB Connect Payment of R0.00 for your Uncapped ADSL acc has been processed"
Does this "payment" refer to the month of June, or for next month?

I have a Gold account and noticed that the FNB connect ADSL discount benefit will fall away with the new rules. Will that be for ADSL access in July, or in August? I would hate to pay for this. Currently only using it as backup account. By what date should we cancel this service if we dont want to continue paying monthly for this crap?
I speak under correction but I would think you are still getting July for free as the old eBucks rule still apply. You're currently RL5 and you're being billed ahead of time for July. So just cancel before the 25th of next month (or earlier to be safe) and you should be good.

i also upgraded to 6meg uncap, torrent between 24h00->06h00 ( Hope i dont need to pay from next month)

So the torrents are fine between those hours? Full line speed?
Real life example, got 183 kbps for a short while at night time 2 nights ago, mainly around 90 kbps on a 4 mb line, BUT, it's not always like this. Last night was at like 0.2 when I did a spot check.

On the site it says normal price for 6meg is 399 and discounted price is 399... Is this an error or is 6meg the only speed that does not get any sort of discount?

My daily account is a vox fatpipe. But over night, I'm thinking I could schedule Windows update/Steam downloads/Xbox live etc to run through FNB uncapped. Is this feasible, will it actually run at decent speeds (around 200-300kB/s)?

Is there any throttling/shaping on NNTP downloads?

I've not used it much the past month, but previously yes, close to full line speed* on Steam and NNTP, even during the evenings before midnight.

*4mbps FNB account on a 2mbps Telkom line.

Very happy on fnb uncapped. Had a slow period last night which was sorted by reconnect. I mainly use streaming no downloads.

Then it might actually work for me. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Hi, I've just about caught up on this thread but still can't decide. I'm currently using mweb 4mb uncapped adsl but hate being heavily throttled during the day even when not downloading. Can anyone advise if FNB would be a good choice?

PS: I do download torrents a lot, mostly through the night.

FNB account is only worth it if it's free IMO. If free, it's a no brainer, you might as well try it.

I tried uncapped last month, however kids had issue with playing Clash of Clans over the net... They found it very slow. I guess this falls under p2p and therefore restricted?
