I managed to get my line working perfectly. I called Telkom to recreate the connection on their side. I purchased an unbranded modem, previously i used the Mweb modem. Lastly i complained to FNB connect. They were extremely helpful and tracked the line for a few days until it worked perfectly. Touch wood its working without issue for the last two months.

Really that bad? I run it on my router as a primary ISP.

Daily usage (07 Nov - Today) on my 2Mbps line:

I am grateful for my fnb connect account when i have steam, battle.net and other large downloads to do :)

Pulled 9.5gb on Mon+Tue for RB6 Siege open beta :)

It's just unstable. Can vary from splendid to horific on an hour to hour basis. And when it's bad.....there is no way of finding out how long it will be bad for. Last time it was about 10 days
 
I just received 2 sms. One saying I get 0% discount based on my rewards level (which was level 5 this month!!!) And another saying that they charged the R399 for 6mb account to my account. Wtf?!!!!
 
The transaction/usage data has not updated on the fnbconnect.co.za website since end-November ... anyone else notice the same?

I got an email saying I can get 100% discount on my FNB connect so it's something I would definitely like to look into!

Latest posts here are more about the portals and billing than the actual performance of the service.

Also, what does the FUP look like?

EDIT: I see P2P is throttled/blocked. Which should be fine as I use my ADSL for streaming. Still bad? Lots of complaints as far as I see.

With Vox now and very happy, but free is free! :p

I use it as a backup. I wouldn't cancel my other ADSL anytime soon, as it's patchy at times.
 
I did some testing last night.

P2P: Completely useless.
Netflix: Takes some time to get going and initially hovers around the 384 mark and 480 before settling on 720 after a minute. On another ISP, the same netfix video starts at 480, moves up to 720 and then settles on 1080 within 3 minutes - don't get 1080 at all on FNB.
PS4 Speed test: 0.989 mbps on FNB, 2.9 mbps on another ISP

Basically, it's a free account, use it for facebook and if you're happy with Netflix at 720.
