FNB Fusion

I've said this before (perhaps in the eBucks thread), but my banker is useless as well when it comes to getting things done. I just use the private wealth service suite for everything and they are really on top of everything.

My banker moved to another department and the one that replaced her was absolutely shocking. I wrote to original banker and told her how things were terrible now and before I knew it she had escalated things and she was made my banker again.

SO yeah, seems like it’s a bit of a lottery. I couldn’t believe how unresponsive and inept the new one was. Thankfully it’s turned out ok now because my banker is seriously excellent and goes the extra yard every time.

So if you covert your Cheque to fusion and retain the credit card on private wealth and then swipe using both how do they calculate ebucks?

ok, so I decided to go ahead and get a fusion account.

what's going to happen with my other account/credit card?
is it going to be automatically canceled?

No credit card is not auto cancelled/ closed. You can actually keep your credit card open if you want. But you will pay additional credit card fee.

Keeping in mind that with the Fusion account you pay the “bundle pricing option” so you would be paying that, and a stand alone “credit car price”

I think that's how it used to work on Premier in the past but I see now the price of the fusion also includes the separate credit card. And with the new pricing fusion stays on R209 while bundle increases to R219. I'm currently in the process of migrating my cheque account to a fusion account. I'm also going to keep my credit card.

That doesn’t make sense.

Read carefully that they aren’t just referring to the Fusion card as a credit card, which is what it is at the end of the day.

Are a whole lot of people now converting to Fusion to get the extra 1000 eBucks RL points next month?

I also thought so. I asked the person I was talking to about it and she confirmed that the R209 is for both the fusion card plus a separate credit card. I even asked for it in writing so that if anything goes wrong I can point them to the conversation.

Hmm, I've learnt not to believe a word they say.

You can get an additional Fusion card for your spouse etc free on the bundle package though and sounds more like that is what they are referring to.

But let us know what happens.

A bit off topic here, but I recently converted to Fusion. I was wondering if anyone knows how to cancel ones credit card and credit account. Is the only way to go into the bank?

You don't, you'd just pay interest. The credit facility fee is built into the cost of the fusion account.
Not according to my team of bankers...

But if you are right, I would also like to know how to cancel my credit account. Your credit card can be cancelled from Online Banking.

Whats the interest rate on your fusion account? Please also indicate what acc type. Primer private or wealth. Thx

First monthly fee since switching over went off on the 25th - half of what it should be, but I assume that pro-rata since I switched mid-month. So far, no separate credit card fees.

Will update if anything changes.

When I switched a few years ago I went into the branch. Others on this forum have suggested phoning them. I'd try phoning first, then if no joy head into the branch.

They did send some weird comms out as well a few weeks ago that made no sense, as if they would bill everyone on a per usage basis throught the month or some such.

But your case does sound like pro-rata.

I am pretty much rocking Gold Fusion now. Account is properly converted and the Fusion card is on its way. Credit card is cancelled and the account is closed. I phoned them, many many times, to do that.
