FNB Fusion

I upgraded to PC a few days ago and was going to switch to Fusion until I saw this thread

The other risk is, I like having very few cards (and other things on me). I carry a money clip for this reason.

If your fusion card doesn't work, you don't have a cheque+credit card that are separate as far as I understand. It's basically one card and if there is an issue with it, then you can't pay. Sometimes my one card gives issues so I use my other one then.

The fusion card is considered a credit card at POS - therefore higher revenue to the bank per rand swiped than a Cheque card. The bank hates Cheque / Debit cards and would like them abolished.

so that the motivation? make everybody use their CC constantly? clever idea if you ask me.

so you only earn ebucks if you take more debt out? well somebody has to pay for these ebucks, guess its got to be us.

I was under the impression that it counts as a cheque card. I tried it at a place a while ago who the lady said that their machine doesn't accept FNB cheque cards, only credit, and my Fusion card didn't work. Disclaimer: she didn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed, I'm not sure how accurate her understanding was. But, my fusion card didn't work, had to pay with my backup Capitec card.

The consultant did tell me it's a Chq and CC in one. however I still need to do a POS transaction to see if card is accepted considering online retailers don't accept fusion. (sorry, some of them)

Um... No.... I pay everything (that needs to be paid) on my credit card... Settle within the interest free period get my R1k+ ebucks a month no additional debt needed...

Cashier equals idiot.

And if someone asks this question again just tell them it's a credit card and they'll put it through correctly.

It's NOT a cheque card. It's a credit card with a cheque account attached to it.

Yes, tried Netflorist and Takealot recently.
You sure you're not doing something wrong... why else would the ebucks website state:

Have qualifying spend on your FNB Fusion Card, FNB Credit Card or FNB Cheque Card to shop online and/or swipe internationally of:

You are doing something very wrong.

I've never had a single transaction declined and I shop more online than offline.

Are you selecting CREDIT CARD to make the transactions?

Actually OP how can you have a Fusion card already if you only upgraded on Monday?

Nope, just talking ****...

On Monday he couldn't put 2 and 2 together around the product, now he is making laughable statements about it.
Maybe just majorly misinformed and confused by what the consultant said. With a hassle I mean having trouble paying at POS (others said) and online (I said). You are more than welcome to correct my laughable statements. :)

I already have through the very fact that I don't have those problems.

The same hassle would apply if you gave a cashier any other credit card and told them it's a debit card.

Your online issues seem to be something you are doing wrong. I ask again how do you even have a Fusion Card in hand already if you only upgraded on Monday?

I still use the credit card / visa option as always. What I am also thinking, maybe because my Chq was still active on the fusion account? They just smssed me it's cancelled.
