FNB Fusion

Lose them where exactly?

It’s certainly not going to work for everyone but for someone like me who was never interested in the interest free period in the first place and only ever got the Credit Card because of ebucks it’s perfect.
Apologies, just had a look at the calculator and see you don't lose access to any points anymore - I missed that change when they updated the rules in July. I'm not suggesting that this won't work for many people, I just mentioned that the interest-free nature of a credit card is a pretty big deal for me.

Agreed

I've been rolling with Fusion for a few months now and I'm quite happy with it. However, payments made from swiping take days to clear. My salary takes a full day longer to clear after it shows up (but it's in a pending state). I never experienced such delays with my Gold Cheque account.

Is that normal?

I've also seen the delay in swipes clearing. I have payments from 4 days ago that are still pending. Very annoying. My salary also cleared a day later than it should have.

I'm looking into a Fusion account and have a question for some of you bright folks.

So if I have a current account with a positive balance of R50,000, and a credit card account which is at 0 but has a limit of R50,000, if I only have one card for both accounts and I swipe it at a shop, do I get the choice which account it comes from at the POS or does it come from one and it's up to you to move it about between accounts on the app etc?

If you close your CC and only have the fusion account (one card), then you will not have the option for credit/checque as the CC account will not exist. Otherwise you will need to keep the CC account, which is pointless if it is zero/settled.

Not pointless if you want access to the additional "credit" as the fusion uses more of an overdraft facility

Oh ok. So the CC stays separate and the current account becomes the fusion. I thought they were somehow linked.

Cheers.

In the long long ago, when I had a Debit and a Credit card it was easy to keep a small balance in the Debit account incase I needed to draw cash.

How do you peeps manage that with the Fusion product? Draw money before you go into credit balance or some other way?

For the sake of eBucks I "draw" cash from the tills at Spar. You can do this even when you go into credit.

It's easier to think of the credit facility with the fusion account as an overdraft. You can't use it unless you move money out / run out of money.

Sure always avoid the ATMs, my concern is around incurring interest. I assume once you are in credit and you draw cash you are going to start attracting interest charges. This was easy to avoid when I had a cheque + credit card, but not so easy with the Fusion product.

Hi All,

Two questions:

1. For the fusion account, do you get a standard account number like a cheque account? And then a VISA card with a CVC?
2. If I swipe the whole month without putting any money into it 1-30 of that month, and then settle the full bill on the 1st of the next month, am I correct in saying I will pay 0 interest?
