FNB Fusion

Yes, all fine. Will phone FNB tomorrow and ask them what the hell.

My Fusion card works at every online retailer that I've tried. Amazon, Takealot, Google Play, Walletdoc, Zapper, Snapscan, Uber, uh... yeah, haven't had a single issue with online.

Cashier equals idiot.

And if someone asks this question again just tell them it's a credit card and they'll put it through correctly.

It's NOT a cheque card. It's a credit card with a cheque account attached to it.

Noted, will insist next time. I just wasn't in the mood for the hassle at the time.

I've had the FUSION since last year already. The trouble was when upgraded from the twins to the FUSION. I lost out on the ebucks. I was so furious and was taken from piller to post without any real resolve. But still didn't get ebucks. But, if you just upgrade from premier fusion to PC fusion no problems.

In terms swipes and or online not a days problems in the year that I've had it. Anyone telling you different they either lying or doing something very wrong or being lied to by incompetent people including FNB themselves.

You just have take note and keep track of your card and its easy to dip into debt. But, a part from that it's a good tool.

Many of us use it and it works works brilliantly!!!

Enjoy!!!

Mine doesn't work at toll gates but it works everywhere else.

The 30-days interest free doesn't seem to work properly, so my MO on fusion is normally this:

1. Get paid on the 25th, move entire positive balance to savings pocket.
2. Top-up fusion account from savings pocket as I spend.
3. When the first comes, let the balance go below -1000 for ebucks.
4. Repeat 2. until payday.

Works for me, keeps the interest to less than R5 every month. I've asked FNB for clarification on this but just given up eventually.

What's the net cost? All fees+interest added up minus interest earned minus ebucks cash value?

The interest usually comes to a few rand every month, less than R10 normally. They have a weird "interest rebate" which I get as well, though where FNB gets this number from every month, I have no clue. Fee is the normal monthly fee for Premier, unless I've done some other value-added thing, which I do from time to time.
My ebucks are normally upwards of R400/m, I've managed about R950 once recently I think. But consistently enough to make back the fees and then some.

Really didn't like the concept at all.... I'll keep my accounts separate thank you.

The Fusion account makes earning RL points difficult/complex.

I'd rather just have 2 accounts and leave my one card in a safe at home.

I found it simpler - you get some points just for having the Fusion account. There was also the thing about not needing to set up the auto-payment, but that was last year's rules and I don't think it applies anymore.

I think the only thing you can't get is points for using the overdraft and maintaining a R5000 minimum balance. But that's not the end of the world.

How? You get the same points you do for Credit Card just under a different rule.

Nothing complex about it.

If anything no chance of accidentally using your cheque card on anything, so even less complex.

I get 8000 point happily between the Fusion account and the overdraft facility by default, no effort required.

You get a few less points on PC, not sure about the other tiers. Also, you lose the longer interest-free period, which is a biggie for me.

The consultant did tell me it's a Chq and CC in one. however I still need to do a POS transaction to see if card is accepted considering online retailers don't accept fusion. (sorry, some of them)

Not true... I’ve had my fusion account for more than a year now. Shopped online in all major South Africa retailers, Adidas, Amazon, eBay, PayPal, takealot, Superbalist, I’ve travelled overseas- swiped and used international atms for 5 weeks.

Never had a single issue. Best decision I’ve made getting this account. All the rewards of having two cards. With managing only one account. One balance.

FNB releases Fusion Account for gold accounts now... seems like the Fusion accounts are picking up steam?

Nice. Still needs to come down to R70 pm though before I bite.

They want to do away with the hassle of transactional accounts which people use for 2 days of the month to fund their credit card and investments. Bonus for them if people lose out on interest or the interest-free period due to complexity. Extra bonus if they screw up the ebucks game and get exposed to full cost.

For the time being I'll stick with my "classic stack".

Lose them where exactly?

It’s certainly not going to work for everyone but for someone like me who was never interested in the interest free period in the first place and only ever got the Credit Card because of ebucks it’s perfect.
