FNB removes new eBucks rule

Well done to FNB for listening to its customers.

Call me when they remove the rule forcing you to choose between endless torrents of spam or losing your ebuck privileges.

Edit: Oh wait, seems they did???

But now that I've already agreed, will I still be spammed?

Edit 2: No, they didn't. Spam is to continue.

They should remove the silly caps on eBucks on their credit cards.

Great company... yeah, let's change the rules and move the goal posts AFTER the customer has already signed up for the rewards program!

They are not the only ones.... freaking rewards programs are usually just a massive scam.

Definitely not a scam.

I've not spent a cent on fuel for two months now, decided I'd cash in my 2 years of ebucks and put them to good use.

Didn't affect me but I'm glad that they're listening to people. Now if only they would remove that stupid rule for R5000 in swipes before you can get SLOW lounge access.

Yep, i gave up trying to earn eBucks on my cheque account because of the silly rule they just removed.

I still earn less ebucks, then last year. This rule isn't gonna make a difference to me. Ai.

How much do they contact you and what is your definition of spam? I've been called no more than three times per year over the last three years that I have given marketing consent

About 3-4 smses per week. Sometimes 2 a day. It only started a few days after I opened an FNB account. Always some "instant cash loan" or similar BS.

At least they don't call me like those phone places used to, but when a message comes through, I assume it's something important, junk messages are just irritating.

I just bought R3000 worth of Makro vouchers with 18000 ebucks. Scam? If so I fail to see how I'm being scammed.
Ive been with ebucks for many years. Regardless of the rules, I have ALWAYS come out on top.

I only get the "in contact" style sms's from ebucks.. I find it hard to believe ebucks would be sending you sms's about instant cash loans. Sorry. it doesn't gel with me.
In fact I only get one or two ebucks email newsletters a month besides my statements and account activity mails. I cannot see what people are b1tching about. Surely you cannot be blaming general spam on ebucks?

Well that is indeed annoying. Very weird that I get nothing of the sort from them.

Odd, I get maybe one SMS every two weeks or so.

It's not ebucks directly, you give the bank permission to give your details to these other companies that then spam you. You have to do this or they cancel your ebucks.

Even that would be too much. I prefer zero. Like I've always had.

I've never been spammed by FNB, in fact the only contact I have with them is when I contact my banker.

I think you have it all wrong. You give the BANK permission to market to you, not to give your details to other marketers. If you're getting spam from other companies then you probably either selected some other marketing consent (not the one that you need to have access to eBucks) or they got your details from somewhere else.

Like almost everyone else who has posted, I only receive 1 - 2 emails per month, never received a phone call and only recall 1 - 2 SMS that I've ever received. I get my eBucks every single month.

i hardly ever get marketing news from ebucks.. maybe once every 3 months or so..

also glad they removed that swiping vs atm withdrawal thing...
i have an fnb credit card and hardly ever use the cheque card cos i wasnt getting any points.. i only use the cheque card now when i do withdrawals as they are free and i also got my ebucks from the last 3 months back!

+1 consumers pay for the rewards somewhere down the line. Someone say VISA fees...
