First of let me start saying ***** YOU Telkom. Yeah you read that right.

Take away you business line packages as that is crap as hell. Whats the use of a business line when you give it the same policy as a home line?? I can bearly *****ing download 60gig a month without you idiots throttling my account.....and i dont even download torrents. I dont even touch the torrents sites. I only do Steam and Origin gaming and download games from steam or origin thats all. If i can reach 80gig a month on my 4mb business line its a *****ing miracle i swear.

What, today is the 15th and my account is shapped and throttled cause im a power user. 24/7 i get speeds of 20kb/s no matter the time of day until the end of this month? Your *****ing joking right?

Why the hell do you guys sell business bundles when you can not offer us what other ISP offer us like Afrihost?? Instead you make us pay R400-R500 more for business lines, but you treat it as home lines and shape them as you like. How stupid do you think we are. No wonder your the worst ISP in SA. You DSL is as crap as your service.

To anyone reading this ranting msg. Dont sign up with telkom ever. They will just take your money and not care bout you as a customer. Also dont bother signing up for a business line cause you pay more money, but get treated as if you have a home line.

I cannot go 10 days into each month without Telkom cutting my internet to 20kbs/s 24/7...i cannot even reach 80-90gig a month on my 4mb business line before i get shaped and throttled. Their service is up to **** just like there dsl.....

So honestly, until they can sort out my dsl and this crap i maybe might then recommend them. As for now...just dont waste your money on them as they will gladly take it, but push you down as a customer just like they do with the 100s and 1000s people out there with the same problem as mine
 
What do you use the line for? e.g. Are you using your business line to download torrents?

Post some stats here so the wise men of MyBB can try to assist you, e.g. SNR and Attenuation, trace route to mybroadband and one to BBC.co.uk (i.e. one local and one international site), ping test, WINMTR, TiTracker status, ADSL Eser Statistics, etc.
 
You don't say how many gigs you'd like to move but there are plenty of reasonably priced capped accounts available from the major ISPs atm, you can do a lot with a TI 50GB capped account and nightsurfer if you schedule your downloads for instance.

OP, you're on the wrong package then. Also why not go for a cheaper capped product with the DoGaming add-on?

Maybe you can first tell us which product you are on. Is it the (Business) Premium account, or just the Business (which was at one point called Business Lite)?

The Business (Lite) package was created because some SMEs who didn't have huge requirements were buying the consumer uncapped. So, Business (Lite) intentionally has very similar policies applied.

I am confused, first you say 60GB, then you say 80GB, then you say 80-90GB, while if you are in 4Mbps you will reach much more than that.

There is of course the possibility that there is a problem with your account (and the developers for some reason haven't gotten around to showing uncapped users the product descriptuon on tracker like they do for capped users). If you PM me your username I can check for you (although if you get close to 4Mbps then you should be on the right one).
 
I just want telkom to connect me to VDSL been waiting forever. So not to fond of them either.
 
Yeah, Telkom still use capped policies on all their accounts they sell whether it be home or business. It states so in their policy, and i have also phoned them many many times before and they just give the policy that if your a power user they have the right to cut you internet speed cause it causes interference with other customers no matter if your a business or home user.

The part that makes me more furious than ever is the fact that their business lines run on same backbone and policies as any other line on their site. So no matter what package you choose if it is premium or lite or home user, you will get shapped once you reached your "cap".

And yeah, im thinking of switching to Afrihost which people say is the best. And reading their policies on their site id got with Afrihost. Problem is i cannot switch my current line to Afrihost cause as stated on Telkom website if you dont have your line for more than 1 year with them, you would pay penalty fees and **** knows what else and that comes down to R13 000.

So im stuck with these idiots till end February. I cannot go 10 days into each month without getting throttled. And i have counted my data i downloaded this month on steam and it is 5 games i downloaded...with shadow of mordor on 34gigs, and the other 4 games as big as 7gig. And now my account is throttled. So that comes round bout 80gigs of data on a 4mb business line??? Your ****ting me here right??

Im on the wrong package?? So how come Telkom does not pick this up when i complain at their helpdesk?? Why cant they tell me im on the wrong package and thats why this is happening? I dont get this at all.

Where is the correct package then? Cause on Telkom site its only Home or Business and thats all......

When i log in to my Telkom account on Telkom site. I just see one long bar showing me the data i downloaded this month (but it does not show the amount, only the bar). So once that bar is full i am a power user and me dsl will get throttled till next month

the amount of data i download was only estimated ranger.....so the estimation of data i download a month is round bout 60-90GB or 80-90GB as i am also not sure cause i worked the estimation out on the number of games i download.....its usually round bout 7 games i download each month on steam before i get throttled......and a game ranges from 7gig for your normal games 20gig for better games and 30+gig for best games.....so i worked out my data estimation on that. But like i posted before this thread. I did go back and count my gigs on the number of games i downloaded this month

Thanx mickeyD......according to this i almost downloaded 108gig of stuff?? This cannot be?? My total download for this month so far is 116 879 880 360 bytes.....thats almost 108gig?? For 7 games each month?? No way.....

Besides all that, people claimed to download almost 300gigs on a 2mb line? Why is my 4mb line reaching 108gig before it gets "capped"

Nah, that's only 116GB.

On my residential uncapped 4Mbps line I get around 300GB per month, but I schedule all my data downloads in the night Surfer zone (00h00 - 07h00).

My kids game aplenty and most of my day time usage is theirs and the wife's youtubing!
 
also another thing, last month i reached 200gig before getting shaped. This month i reach 116gb and get shaped??

Also, to schedule my downloads after 00h00 does nothing. It still brings up my data usage on the data tracking tool like any other time during the day, which does bring me closer to be a power user

Very strange... send your details to ranger (from Telkom Internet) so that he can check what's going on.

Those records are accurate, if it says 108GB then that's what it is.

We get those high figures because we schedule all our big downloads (steam, torrents, nzb etc) from 00:00-07:00 which does not count towards your usage wrt the formula used to determine when you get throttled.
