So we use pastel evolution at work. All went fine until more or less 3 months ago. The we get frequent error messages, cant even remember all of them now, most of the runtime errors. So I just got a feeling it's pastel. Got the pastel guy out, and he told me, that it is pastel, and that my whole pc must be formatted and everything reinstalled. He said the registry is damaged.
Now this just don't make sense to me. Is this all possible? At work I saved 2 or 3 of the error messages as screen shots, will upload them tomorrow.
Any help please?

I find Pastel's support line rather good. Phone them with the code error or message - I think that would be your first step.

Being in a similar industry, I wouldn't advise my client to format unless I had exhausted every possible avenue.

Sounds like they just being lazy. Contact their support desk.

True, just a pity I have to use the stupid guy. We have a butchery, we own one branch of 4 in Polokwane, and we pay a fee monthly (dont know what it is) so we can use this guy. The senior of this techi is the manager at the biggest branch in our group, and the smaller branches need him, so if I tell the techi to go to hell, I'm shooting myself in the foot. And we all buy Pastel in "bulk", so we save on that too, but the stupid techi do all the installing and nonsense.

Okay will try them out.

Yes, he is lazy. If I phone him like 8h00 in the morning, I can hear that I woke him. And he never responde immediately for a call out, always the next day or the other.

Are you running windows 7 PC's ? Have you updated Pervasive / SQL ?
Shucks I dont have an idea what that is. I'll try the phone support, and ask them to help me on that too.

now something else popped up today. The manager i mentioned told an old customer of his that he "see" she buys her meat at our shop, and also what her account balance is. So that means he can check everything we do on pastel. How can he do it and how can i block him?

Yes, I run windows 7.

Windows 7 PC 's running Pastel require a certain version of Pervasive ... ver 9 or 10 I think.
Windows XP PC's used to run on ver 8.

You cant have mixed version of pervasive on same network , you must upgrade / purchase the latest and configure all PC's to use that. Also check under "pervasive license admin" and make sure your lic is not a temporary one or expired.

Had the runtime error 5 on some laptops - Winxp sp3, all pastel versions , pervasive 10

On support with pastel's helpdesk - I had to reinstall and reformat.

Pastel sucks.

A bit overkill solution , could have got it working without going to these extremes.

It was on one of our Partner's laptops and wanted to sorted asap, plus he wanted to upgrade to Win7 and Office 2010, so three birds - one stone.

I have a problem and dont know how to fix it.
Old sales orders that were linked to invoices or deleted - the inventory item still hold item on sales order.
1) Opening process customer - sales order - the sales order is not there due to it being invoiced or deleted.
2) Opening item that was on deleted sales order - shows item is sill on sales order
3) Run View inventory quantity - Sales order - drill down - the deleted SO and item still there

This makes my available stock quantity incorrect.

I have done a rebuilds batch quantity but the problem is still there

Hope it makes sense.
