Ford Ecosport feedback please

My moms Titanium 1.5 TiVCT (aka auto) was used for the trip. I still want to get me my Ambiente end 2018, for my 40th.

Just went back to the beginning of this thread and read that you referred to your mom's auto, I had forgotten.

You need to wait until 2020 or so for a very good, low mileage, always garaged and weekly washed white one to match your mom's ;-)

How does the 1.5 go with the auto box? If I rev our manual it goes well but is very sluggish below 4000rpm. Not enough torque on the 1.5 engine.

I'm used to a 1.4 Figo, and a 1.3 Ikon before that, so I'm totally fine with it, there's no fires for me to attend lol.

Wow, nasty stuff. Definitely looks like it could stick a 4X2 bakkie as well, although difflock hay have helped.

You say that it "locked" the wheels so that you couldn't even spin?

I do wonder if a manual transmission would have made a difference. The vehicle eventually told me that I was starting to overheat the transmission, so I stopped trying further.

Meh, it's not even a braai on a stuck Kuga !

I've had a 1.5 auto for a year and done about 55 000 km in it without any problems. It can be a little bit sluggish unless you rev it but it handled a trip down to the Wild Coast towing a trailer over New Year with no problem.

Cool, thanks for the feedback.

Second annual service completed today along with a replacement ignition key housing as the original one kept splitting and dropping the keyring off (covered by warranty).

I also reported that the boot hatch had to be slammed to close properly. Feedback is that some Ecosport's have their rear door sag slightly and need to be lifted up. Requires a 2hr trip to an approved bodyworks and I am assured that no grinding or spraying is involved.

Oh well, Tuesday that gets sorted out.

Interesting. My boot has been giving problems. I'm taking it in as I am unable to open it. It has always been sticky. I did get it open once and sprayed the lock mechanism with Q20. But it seems that the lock and open mechanism is defective.

Other little things (after 3 years)

* Sunglasses holder broke.
* Handbrake is loose (needs adjustment)
* Noise when someone phones me on the bluetooth mic. It sounds like the airvent blowing on the mic (that is what people tell me). I suspect they forgot to replace something after the recall.

Yes, I did mention some of the problems, but these to me are minor (except the boot, I'm a bit pissed about that). The car drives fine. The engine has only been driven in at about 40000km.

I haven't shared this yet, but an extended Ford SA warranty for my Ambiente Ecosport is only R5k and can be purchased up to month 47 of the standard 4yr warranty. A bargain I intend taking up in due course.

What consumption do you guys get with the diesel model get?
Driving to work (50% @ 80, 30% @ 120 & 20% @ 60) gives me 5.6 l/100km. Driving a constant 120km/h it sits at about 6.

With my petrol Figo, sitting at indicated 110km/h my fuel gauge needle hardly drops, while at indicated 130km/h its falls fast.

I bet you it's that 80km/h part that lowers it. Try driving at a constant 110 and see what you get. Maybe gearing and revs are optimised for 100 to 110...

Driving at 110 (max) to work makes a huge difference. It goes down to 4.8 then.
