Ford Ecosport feedback please

Interesting. My boot has been giving problems. I'm taking it in as I am unable to open it. It has always been sticky. I did get it open once and sprayed the lock mechanism with Q20. But it seems that the lock and open mechanism is defective.

Other little things (after 3 years)

* Sunglasses holder broke.
* Handbrake is loose (needs adjustment)
* Noise when someone phones me on the bluetooth mic. It sounds like the airvent blowing on the mic (that is what people tell me). I suspect they forgot to replace something after the recall.

Yes, I did mention some of the problems, but these to me are minor (except the boot, I'm a bit pissed about that). The car drives fine. The engine has only been driven in at about 40000km.

My boot also started to become more difficult to open/unlock. Found the bolts on lock mechanism to be loose.

Mine is a bit different. The locking mechanism that locks around the lock bar gets stuck. When you press the button, you can hear the (I suspect electro magnet) try to release it, but it doesn't unlock. When I did get it open, I tested the lock and had to use some force to release it. Interesting to note that the lock mechanism has 2 locking positions.

Now that I think about it, I should've taken a video.

What consumption do you guys get with the diesel model get?
Driving to work (50% @ 80, 30% @ 120 & 20% @ 60) gives me 5.6 l/100km. Driving a constant 120km/h it sits at about 6.

Here is what my wife gets:WHAT WE GET.PNG
Here is what ABSA fleet says the 1.5 Ambiente should get: WHAT ABSA SAYS WE SHOULD GET.PNG

Warranty's baby surely....

I've never had trouble with Ford warranty claims. On my last Ranger, the door rubbers (on the outside which rest between door and glass) all faded into a white colour. I pointed it out to them and warranty replaced all 4 door rubbers to brand new black one's.

I have OCD....

I noticed that my radiator is 'loose'. It kind of can move forward and back a bit. Can't see if there is any mountings that are loose. Anyone else having the same?

Some Kuga owners like this one

I'll rub and tug tonight and report back

Minor movement on mine as well. Not concerned though.

Second annual service completed today along with a replacement ignition key housing as the original one kept splitting and dropping the keyring off (covered by warranty).

I also reported that the boot hatch had to be slammed to close properly. Feedback is that some Ecosport's have their rear door sag slightly and need to be lifted up. Requires a 2hr trip to an approved bodyworks and I am assured that no grinding or spraying is involved.

Oh well, Tuesday that gets sorted out.

I delayed the boot repairs as I have been busy. Car went in yesterday for the "hard to close" boot. Dealer sent ot to an approved bodyworks who had the car for half the day.

When I got the car back in the afternoon, the boot now opens and closes perfectly. I cant see any evidence of where or how the bodyworks adjusted the hinges.

Car serviced. Sunglass holder and boot fixed under warranty. Mic adjusted and working better

The whole design of that boot with the wheel bolted on just well, puts me off the whole car.

Ford goes and mounts a "big" tyre on the back of the boot.. ok, That somehow makes it look like an SUV, but then in the same area they decide handles are ugly (uglier than "big ass" tyres) so they disguised the handle as a reverse light, it just makes no sense. And that just leads me to think the whole design is a compromise between the marketing and the engineering departments and marketing won.

I find the "hidden handle" very clever and aesthetically pleasing. I also like the rugged look of the spare wheel mounted on the boot. I am willing to forgive the recent need for warranty correction and if I bought another one and had to choose between having the spare on the boot or not, I would choose on again.

My wife recently bought a Ecosport TDi. She loves the car - great handling, fuel consumption, adequate clearance - she ends up driving a lot of roads in bad condition when valuating properties.
Yesterday the one warning light came on - the service indicator with a oilcan next to it. According to the manual - that indicated fuel contamination of the oil. Luckily - she was near the Heidelberg dealership where she had bought it. According to them - the indicator was wrong - and actually came on because the odometer had reached 10 000 km.

They reset it for her, but then told her to bring the car in in a week's time to verify that everything is in order. I'd normally write it off a being cautious, but since the whole Kuga debacle - I'm a bit skeptical.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Only ever warning on our 1.5 Petrol was "Oil Change Due" at exactly 12 months after the last service (our Ecosport only does 11k a year - nowhere near the 20 000km intervals)

I have a 2013 Ford EcoSport 1.0 Trend. The car was a dream until November last year. Since it has reached 90 000km I've had at least one mechanical fault per month. High pressure fuel pump went and the camshaft needed to be replaced in November. I had the car back for less than 2 days and the catalytic converter went. One month later the high pressure aircon pipe just snapped in half and had to be replaced. A week later in January the gearbox packed up and would not engage 1st gear. Now that has to be replaced. A week later the ignition plug cracked and I lost all power in the vehicle as it jerked its way back to the dealership.

Ford can give no explanantion other than to say they have never seen anything like it before! Head office says its not their problem as I went 10 000km over my scheduled service. Sure that can cause "some" problems, but the issues that I have been faced with, with this car is unprecedented and even the dealership agrees! Unfortunately Ford has refused to acknowledge that there is a HUGE mechanical issue with this car and just denies all responsibility. The car is badly manufactured and for the last four months has spent more time in the workshop than it has on the road. It would appear all the tatseless jokes about Ford's unreliability are true afterall!!
Maybe these issues only kick in after a few years or maybe its a problem with the 2013 model. Eitherway, I've lost all faith in Ford and the EcoSport. If anyone is considering buying one - DON'T!!

I've got a interesting question for Ecosport owners.
Has anyone experienced back problems from long periods in the driver seat?
My wife loves hers, but recently sat in the passenger seat while I drove. She then noticed that the passenger seat has a lot more support, the driver seat feels like its lacking to the one side.
She has been having issues with her back lately and made a appointment with a chiropractor. While there today - she mentioned it to him. And he then remarked that she was not the first to complain about that to him - he actually has another patient who is also a Ecosport owner, and has the same complaint.

I've done 2000km+ holiday trips as driver in a Titanium automatic, no such experience and my back isn't the best
