I am looking for some real world feedback of people who drive this car daily.

My wife will be looking for a new car next month.

The initial plan was 2 replace her Polo Vivo with a 1 year old VW Polo 1.2 TSI Comfortline. However, she really likes the Ford Ecosport, and they are in roughly the same price range.

What are the major differences in the varying spec levels?
Which would be the better buy, the 1.0T Petrol or 1.5TD Diesel?

I am not clued up on Ford vehicles so looking for any useful info.

PS. I am not looking for "you should rather buy this car" responses. I am purely doing some research on the Ecosport specifically.

Thanks

There is a thread about it (Ecosport) somewhere.

New model coming out this year, seems decent upgrade. So unless you're buying second hand, maybe wait.

Driving a Fiesta ecoboost that has the same 1.0T engine for about 2 years now. Awesome car, very fuel efficient and power is available from take off.
Having a check engine light issue recently but Ford in Roodepoort are sorting it out under warranty. Suspect its a faulty sensor.

If it's the same engine that's in the Figo... Don't!

It's way too under powered for a Figo, it will just be shyte in the Ecosport.

The ES is rated at 82kw on the diesel. Will check if it shares motors.

Wifey doesn't like diesel though.

Driving a Ford myself and having talked to a lot of other people last week, I can only share this:

Ford service is shit.

Recently acquired one of the TDCi models after another family member also bought one. Running on 50ppm diesel I haven't found it to be underpowered - more than enough go to keep it at 120 in 5th gear no matter the terrain.

Light on fuel 5.6l/100km so that is fantastic. Haven't had first service yet, but so far myself and wife are loving the car.

I am a firm believer that all agents offer rubbish service. Every time i I take my car to VW for anything it normally requires me calling the dealer principal, or a tirade of ranting on social media after the experience.

I've only ever dealt with VW, but my expecations are low of any brand service.

I'm certain though that after she sits in a few different vehicles in her bracket, she will end up choosing a Polo. In that price range it offers the most refinement IMO.

I have to agree, I can't see someone, who is driving a VW, moving over to Ford, unless they want to save money on their next purchase. You get what you pay for, I always say. :)

Did she just see the EcoSport on the road one day and said "I want that"

She has seen a few around, and started taking more note of them after I told her its within budget. Initially she was just looking at the Polo, but then she asked what other vehicles were available in the budget. From the ones i mentioned, the ES caught her attention.

She hates Ford mainly for the way they handled the Kuga scandal (she has a strong moral compass).

She initially wanted a Polo GTI but nearly fell down when I told her the price. I'm relieved though because she misbehaves in my car.

Having driving a lot of diesel cars. When I drove the Figo I was frustrated as shyte. I will never buy anything less than 2.0 td. I wanted to pull my hair out of my head. Luckily the wife opted for the 1.4i instead at that stage.
