!!! Ford Figo cooling problems !!!

My car is a 2005 model and has one belt driving everything, power steering, alternator and aircon, some cars from around the same era has two belts. I am not sure about the Figo but it is not exactly a newer Ford, assuming we are talking about the first generation model.

Make absolutely sense.

mines a 2012.. i think there is two only.. last time i looked in the motor i only saw 2 belts..

You can't possibly see the cambelt from the engine bay since it's covered so it must be the two belts besides the cambelt making it three in total, right?

hmmm yea perhaps... i am not 100 percent sure hay.. theres only an engine cover on top? rest is pretty much open..

The cam belt has a protective cover and it's pretty much part of the engine in a way on most cars, so I am positive that there is no cam belt in the two visible ones.

Guys I have a 2010 Ford Vito that recently started overheating. The bottle cap doesn't fit properly anymore, the fan doesn't come on to cool down the engine. I've replaced the fan switch as advised by someone. The problem still persists though. I urgently need to get to the bottom of the issue and fix it

Yup. Fan works, light works... Still gets hot and pops!

As for the spare caps... Like I said they are useless cause when it blows it takes the threads with it.Old cap won't tighten on new bottle and visa versa...

This issue is driving us nuts!
I recon this car may be cremated soon!

Have you resolved your issue? I'm experiencing similar issue. And it's so stressful. I need urgent advise

So have you replaced the bottle cap with one that fits properly? If not do that first, you can't fix a problem when there are multiple issues.

Anyone can recommend good place to take it to?

I see Silverton radiators has a few branches in the Cape, they are pretty good up here in Jhb.
But any decent radiator place can do it for you.

Hey guys long story short.

Ford Figo 2012 1.4 Ambiente Petrol.
Duratec motor.
Cracked/warped head in July 2022
Complete engine rebuild new head and gaskets. Mechanic did not replace the pieate part water bottle and cap also did not join the resevor hose nicely.

Got the car back in December, drove it for 2 weeks.

My partner had the car stuck in traffic.
Hose pops off drives the car for anout 7km without water in traffic to a garage.

Hose is reconnected and quick water/coolant replacement.

Drove car home about 30+km

Checking car in the morning, blown gasket again. (Sludgy deposit in oil filler cap and film of oil in resevoir)

Cue Loctite block and head sealant.

Cars been purring for about 35 000km.

25/7/2023 stuck in traffic, white steam coming from water reservoir.

Water bubbling in reservoir and leaking out the cap coolant drained out as the initial leak was green.

Topped up with water and finished errands.

Cap popped off twice due to traffic. Replaced each time. (Car didn't overheat- [no warning light] fan operational, reservoir still bubbling)
There is no coolant in the resevoir due to the leak out.

26/7/2023
Did a short local drive this morning only enough to get the fan on. Didn't notice any bubbling or leaking.
No sludge in filler cap however very light/patchy oil film and oil smell in water resevoir (less than 2 drops)

I want to check the spark plugs for oil to confirm the gasket isn't blown
1) should there be signs of a blown gasket, Can I just use another bottle of loctite?
(It worked before when there was sludge present in filler cap)

2) should I flush the radiator and add new coolant + replace water bottle with genuine ford

3) how do I check if my water pump is faulty?

210355km on the clock

There is no warning light, there is a temperature gauge that moves towards the overheating zone when it overheats.

The long term solution is to fix the car and make sure the bottle is replaced and hoses secured. The thing you pour in the water to seal is a good once off to get you where you need to go and sort it out soon after that, it's going to leave it's gunk that will block the radiator and at worst the water cooling jackets.

If it overheats while you are moving at a reasonable pace, it's coolant circulation, either blocked thermostat or water pump.

Yes flush it all out, you cannot be driving around with an oil/ coolant mix.
