A VERY reliable source told me that Formula 1 would be coming to South Africa in 2011 :cool::D:D

According to my source, the race will be hosted at the Kyalami grand prix circuit. The track will be closed in 2010 for upgrades to the amount of R150mil.

There will also be a new 6 lane highway to the airport.

I hope my source is correct!

Anyone else know anything about this?

Mmm I heard something like this, but I heard they will be building a new track behind CPT International towards Stellenbosch...

Would be awesome though... But will F1 have a big enough following in SA to get the stands full... We dont want this to be an embarresment with a bunch of Vuvuzelas and stuff ;)

depends where they host

i dont care where they would host it i would go to anywhere in the country and spend the whole weekend there

There's a couple of threads about it.
Rasool was the delay in the story, not gonna happen.

tbf killa the race was also very exciting last year. it's the races that are the issue most of the time.

that being said i would still go see at least one F1 race if SA was to stage.

Been to about a dozen F1 races, the most awesome sensation when you hear those engines howling! The best was one year I had pit passes. stood at the pit wall watching the start, man, when those cars rev up! I can't possibly explain how it feels...

i am a racedriver myself, and when i heard the f1 cars for the first time . . . Its really amazing, on tv they sound almost tame.

I'd sure as hell go and watch... But like I said, I have a feeling South Africa will *&*& it up some way...

i read in the news paper some time ago, that they would be building a race track behidn the cpt int airport, like slyfly said....

A lot of you are giving your age away here.... I have already attendied a number of F1 races in this country... :)

And I still remember the noise and the smell....

Bernie Ecclestone has sworn that we'd never get F1
I always thought the Greenpoint area would be unique. It would be kind of like Monaco but without the cash.

yeah bring it on I say, when we had the twin seater Minardies at Kyalami a couple of years ago the turn out was impressive!!

I agree, the sound of the engines was deafening and that was 2 cars! I would imagine the sound of 20 cars at the beginning of a race to be thunderous to the point of unbearable....
