I bought my son a PC a while back to get him started on using the interface and to allow him to download pictures from his DSLR without having to use my PC.
He has now started playing Fortnite with his friends, but is complaining about lag. PC is connected via wireless to fibre network and current ping according to MyBroadBand speedtest is 2 ms. (I realize ping to Fortnite servers will be higher - I think it is around 200ms currently)
I can't quite pinpoint what's causing the lag and what would be the most cost effective manner to improve his experience (including whether I should get him connected to the router using CAT cables)
PC Spec below:
Motherboard:Biostar H61mgv
Ram: 4Gb DDR3 1333 TransGeneric
CPU: Core i3 3240
Cooler: Stock
HDD: Sata 160Gb
GFX: AMD HD7850
Monitor: Samsung 23"
I suspect the graphics card should still be fine for Fortnite?
Would a SDD give good increase or should I look at motherboard + cpu or does it just need more RAM?
Thanks for any advice.
