Hi there

To simply the forum, and make it easier to track discussions, we would like to make the following changes:

  • Combine the “ADSL Discussion” and “VDSL Discussions forums” (the services are basically the same)
  • Make the “Neotel NeoConnect, NeoFlex and NeoBroadband” a sub-forum of fixed broadband (because of a lack of activity)
  • Remove “Company and People Info” forum, which is not relevant any longer.
  • Remove “Virgin Mobile Broadband and Mobile Internet” (no interest from members any longer)

Your feedback is welcome.

how about moving Iphone and Android threads to the PD section? I mean its all the same anyway, iPhone users will never change and Android users will always give them hell for it. you can leave the 4 windows phone users under cellular as it is now, it would take them too long to find the moved threads on windows phones...

Neotel Ltd., previously SNO Telecommunications, is the second national operator for fixed line telecommunication services in South Africa. It was unveiled on 31 August 2006 in Kyalami in northern Johannesburg
... and offered minimal national residential services.

Changes get my vote.

My suggestions...

1. Change ADSL, VDSL and Fibre Discussions to "Fixed Line Services Discussions"

1.1 Merge ADSL and VDSL into one category - "DSL Network Discussions"

1.2 Amend Fibre to - "Fibre Network Discussions"

1.3 With the ISP discussions there are two options, amend ADSL and VDSL ISP Discussions to -

1.3.1 either a single category - "ISP discussions"

1.3.2 or split it into - "DSL ISP Discussions" and "Fibre ISP Discussions"

1.4 Move the "Fixed Broadband" sub-forum from Other Broadband Services into this sub-forum and rename it - "Other Fixed Line Services Discussion"

1.4.1 Move Neotel NeoConnect, NeoFlex and NeoBroadband to a sub-forum of Other Fixed Line Services Discussion

1.4.2 Move Sentech Wireless, WiMax, iBurst Wireless and iCall to the Other Wireless Services Discussions sub-forum (see 2.1)

2. Change the Other Broadband Services to - "Wireless Services Discussions"

2.1 Rename Mobile Broadband to - "Other Wireless Services Discussions"

2.2. Move Wi-Fi and WISP to the top of the list - to show no favouritism.

2.3 Remove the "LTE, HSPA+, HSDPA, HSUPA, 3G, EDGE and BIS" from all the descriptions

I support this suggestion, as a mod Mickey has a good understanding on how the users behave on where they discuss topics or create topics. Reading through his list, it is a relevant suggestion to optimise the abovementioned discussions.

SNIP

1.3.2 or split it into - "DSL ISP Discussions" and "Fibre ISP Discussions"

SNIP

1.4 Move the "Fixed Broadband" sub-forum from Other Broadband Services into this sub-forum and rename it - "Other Fixed Line Services Discussion"

That^^^^ I was typing up a similar response. That section is a mess.

I would use 1.3.2 for now, Fibre and DSL are very different products atm.

1.4 "Other Broadband Services" is more appropriate as most of those don't have "lines" per se

Can you also move that thor guy to the outbin please I've been exceeding my headache meds budget

How about "Wireless"?

Think "other" is broader, can just be a dumping ground for any weird provider/technology that doesn't have it's own sub-forum ;)

"Wireless" will also confuse between this and "Wifi and Wisp"

But I dunno, you're the one who has to move everything!

WISP should actually be in a category which discusses community services. A Wisp is generally a wireless intranet. One may also broaden the categories, like we do, by expanding on consumer, business and enterprise categories, but the threads will land up anywhere in those…

You only get Wireline and Wireless services...

You only get Wireline and Wireless services...

Wireline is split into DSL, Fibre and then other random stuff(ISDN etc).

Wireless is split into Mobile(the big providers which have sub-forums and other little ones eg Virgin) and Fixed(again big providers eg Telkom uncapped and other little ones eg: WISPS)

Either you need to dump all the random providers into one "Other Broadband Services" or into "Other Broadband Services: Wired" and "Other Broadband Services: Wireless"
