Spent a while putting together specific rules for PD.

Any of them going to be addressed here?

Here - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/297229-Rules-and-guidelines
Any of them?

No hate speech
Covered here - No posts which constitutes defamation, harassment, or abuse

No personal insults/attacks
Covered here - No personal attacks, insulting other members or threats towards others

No trolling.
Covered - Stay on topic. Derailing threads are frowned upon.

Thou shalt not create inane and facetious threads
O/T would probably implode.

In the case of personal insult the offended party should be the one making the complaint.
Never agreed with this one.

Can this rule perhaps be added to the general forum rules (copied and amended below):

When communicating, please make an effort at using the correct grammar and punctuation, to the best of your abilities - It is understandable that there are people who post here who are not first language English speakers, so you are not all expected to sound like an English professor but it would be preferable that there are not posts that look like they should be on Mxit.

Posting sermons in PD?

Suggestive pics in pic threads?

What is the stance by the mods on these, as there seems to be a gaping chasm in terms of how they are either enforced or not, especially of late.

Are sermons allowed to be posted in PD? Are suggestive pics allowed? Why are some pics only deleted when posted by certain forumites?

Clarity here would be appreciated.

Should we be reporting all breaches of these rules?

i.e. all swearing must be reported and the mods will enact on it moving forward?

Lately I've been seeing more threads where OP is trolling too. i.e. Its normal for threads to derail, but this trend of threads that start off with a troll-ish vibe to them is annoying. And if its an established poster then he/she rarely gets called out for it.

On the suggestive pics & language front I don't see what the fuss is all about - its an 18+ forum so wth?!? I do see a need for NSFW tags though...I don't browse from work so I don't care, but I can see the necessity for it.

These are rules for the entire forum, if PD, or any sub-forum, needs additional, specific guidelines that is a topic for another day.

As for reporting perceived violations there is the RBP button, use it and mod will look at the post in qn.

On a slightly different note, but sticking to the mods' line of questioning- what is the set of criteria for someone to be selected as a mod, and what is the duration said selection holds?

Why is it a question for another day? It is relevant now considering the thread content and the timing. The problem here is that some mods are enforcing rules that don't exist, and others are not enforcing rules that do exist. Those two examples I posted are two recent threads/topics/posts that illustrate this point perfectly. So an answer would be greatly appreciated...

This is now for swearing as well? Infractions are going to be dished out for swearing? Again, I need clarity, because for years this was not enforced at all, and yet now infractions are being dished out on the basis that swearing constitutes an insult.

So again, for the sake of clarity and consistency, please can you clarify...

It seems perfectly clear to me.

Encouraged activity (repeated warnings will result in infraction)
...
Swearing is not allowed, so please try to keep it clean.

It was perfectly clear before today, but was overlooked. But no problem. Swearing shall be reported from now on - in all threads. Sermons allowed.

The devolution of the forum has truly begun. Pandering to the trolls and infracting the rest...

Really?!

Can you link to an infraction post in TK please

I have two. One for swearing and another for insulting, because i used a swear-word. So two for swearing (the post merely had the f-word in it, that was all), just one dressed up as something else.

Which is why I don't bother with TK any longer. A certain mod in there is abusing his position...

The trolling has been unbelievable of late, especially in the N&CA and Motoring sections.

@biometrics: marine1 isn't a troll, he just has a strong opinion about things. Haldex and saksakgp are examples of trolls, consistently ignoring anything they can't debate, posting one liners to get a reaction and derailing threads.

I gave my view on the Toyota 86 from day 1, it's not my fault you bought the car.
Are we not allowed to hate on lousy slow cars?

Some mods have friends here, so best not to argue with them.
Some mods post under other nicks as well, best not to argue with them either.
