Forum Upgrade

Not sure if anyone posted it yet, but Advanced Search is not lekker. I sometimes just do a search on my username to see the last threads i posted in, at the moment it's not even picking up posts i did in the last few months , yet picks up posts back in 2005. The default sorting is "by title" (which i changed, but no luck finding my recent posts). The results does not show who posted last in thread or the status of the thread, just my post . Maybe i miss a few settings there, but lets just say i did not need to change any settings on adv search in the previous forum.

This should be fixed tommorow - we are still busy with some maintenance - takes a long time with 3million posts :(

Gotta say I kinda like this upgrade :)

Tag cloud button missing though ;)

EDIT: Some of these emoticons kinda suck :erm:

Not sure if this has been posted already (just came on and didn't read the first 9 pages):

1. When you click the "go to first new post button" for the subscribed threads with new post that appear on your "settings" page, it take to the page with the new post, and not the post itself like before.
2. On the user profiles there is no "find all threads started by user" button.

I am still getting a feel for it but first impressions are obviously good. One thing that is not as easy to pick up is the difference in colour/contrast between threads you have already viewed and those that you have not. On the old forum the thread title would be bold if unread and not if read. This one now appears to be blue and grey envelopes which are not as easy to see the difference.

I am also trying to fathom what a red envelope means? I'm sure I will work it out eventually but perhaps someone can point it out.

Also as pointed out by someone else the font size is rather small when typing a response to a post. When posted it is larger.

My comments are similar - the line separating the body of the post and the sig is too faint.

Ok, I see the "go to first post" in the main forum in working. The links in the settings section are missing the "#post<postnumber>" at the end.

Eg.

It takes you here:

After reading through the pages of this thread my eyes feel like they are sunburned!!!

It needs less bright things and more structure. It feels like the forum is now like a cloud.

When I hover over the red blue and grey icons on the left hand side of the thread a box comes up but there is no writing in the box, so I don't know what the difference is between the colours!

I've actually changed my mind. It's growing on me. I like how comments between articles and the forum are linked. I also like the neatness to it. Still looking forward to a change in theme though :D

Rawk on, MyBB :)

OK...I'm still battling to get back to the Forum that I was reading before posting.

E.G. I post something in the Motoring Section, then want to go back to read something else in that section...go to "Quick Navigation" click on it, and it then opens up every available Forum, instead of just taking me back to Motoring...is there a quick way of doing this?

Yarr...

At the top where, underneath New Post and above Reply to Thread, it says: * Home * Forum * Latest Happenings * Announcements * Forum Upgrade

Forum Upgrade is the one you're in (this one) so just click Announcements (or, in your case, Motoring) and you'll be back in that section.

Is that what you mean? :o
