Forum Upgrade

I have to admit to finding it rather difficult to use the forum in it's current form. I suppose we all developed our habits on the old forum and now they have been shattered. Still my biggest issue, probably as a result of the way I use the forum, is scanning the new posts to see which ones I have read and which I haven't. Those little envelopes actually require you to concentrate. A simple solution would be to have the thread title of those you haven't already read in bold and the others not... this would be similar to the old way without much effort required surely?
 
Well, it looks like this is the new default theme for vBulletin v4 so there's no going back to the old theme unless rpm sticks to vB 3.x which isn't gonna happen.

but, er....if you click "new posts" - what do the red and blue icons mean?

I only use the "new posts" button when using the forum and on here I am not getting read threads in normal font and unread in bold.

Apparently red means super hot thread... which on this forum tends to be most new threads so just distracting rather than useful.

New posts cause the thread titled to be bolded. Try clearing cookies or something and login again.
 
i like the new look, its just tooo white! its burning my eyes! I'm wearing sunglasses ATM I feel I will be spending less time on myBB to save my eyes
other wise it looks good, just take some getting used to

However, I'll settle for almost any non-white alternative as well :p
 
The default theme worked the first time around, the same thinking probably went into this version. I guess the old default theme is not an option with version 4 of the software. This is the biggest update of vb since since 2004.

Personally I feel its a step backwards in terms of the design and layout, but then again the previous version was almost flawless.

Par for the course. There will always be mass dissenters when it comes to forum upgrades. You'll get used to it. It's the people and the content that will keep people here, not ultimately the look.

I can't believe there are those that are threatening to leave if the new look isn't changed. No one is forcing you to stay.

It's a forum for goodness sake - not an art gallery. I'm sure within time you guys will adjust to the new look. It's way better than the old and outdated feel.

Well done RPM and co.. There are those that appreciate the time and effort it must take to do such a major overhaul. :D

With 30,944 posts and an average post count of 42.58 a day, Mephisto_Helix can start a forum to rival MyBB in no time :D

To those whining about brightness - your monitor has a brightness control - try using it.

Yeah, like its the bots that are dissenting, we even have the 30,944 post count behemoth Mephisto_Helix speaking out.
