Serious line degradation over the past few years - used to be able to connect with no issues at 4mbps but this gradually worsened to where I could not sync at more than 2mbps and even then this was unstable requiring a modem reboot almost daily. At 2mbps I was lucky to get a download line speed on speedtest.net of more than 120kbps! And all the time I was paying for a 4mbps/10Mbps (which the exchange can handle apparently)
Attenuation and LNR stats were fine (cannot remember the exact values off hand now) and I had Telkom out numerous times to check cable quality etc. to no avail.
011 705 XXXX - I'm about 1.7km as the crow flies from the exchange at Monte Casino.
Afrihost 4mbps, then 2mbps uncapped
Overnight and early morning speeds were far better than mid-morning till evening.
Eventually gave up on Telkom and have gone with the Neotel WiMax solution which while quite a bit pricier now gives me a solid 5mbps and has not gone down in over 3 months (keeping fingers crossed)
