I last logged on the internet using my phone on Saturday 2 March 2013 at around 2230hrs and it was very slow. Sunday 3 March 2013 i couldnt access the internet on my phone (by the way i use 8ta) from 0800hrs so i phoned the call centre at around 0900hrs and was told to request settings which i did. nothing came out of it. i phoned again and spoke to a diffrenet person who told me to request new settings which i did and nothing came out of it. In the evening i called again and was told that the system was being upgraded so anytime it would be up and running. This morning no internet again and i phoned again and was told that the system is being upgraded but after an hour everything will be back to normal. At around 1100hrs i phoned again and was transfered to another person which hadnt happened before and she said 8ta has changed how you access internet , one must first purchase data bundles . i asked for how long has this been going on and she said for a month and i told her that i have been using pure airtime for my internet connection for 3 weeks now. She suggested i purchase a bundle but what i dont understand is that when i try to log onto Facebook , the blue screen written facebook in the middle keeps loading and nothing happens, when i try yahoo or google its the same, loading and loading and loading. I m angry and now belong to the school of thought that goverment cannot do anything properly.

Now i want to know is it possible to convert my 8ta cellphone number to cell c ?

Been with cell c for the past 2 weeks. Thank God i didn't convert my number i just bought a new starter pack.

Cell c cellphone internet is so slow. A page takes ages to load. No wonder why they 100mb cost 15 rand and they give you a mb for every rand you recharge with.

The supercharge thing , well you wont benefit much from it. the free minutes are cellc to cellc whereas 8ta is to any network anytime. so at the end of the day your 20 free minutes expire because you have noone to phone i mean many people have mtn and vodacom.

The free sms that you get when you recharge are also cellc to cellc too so they will expire.

I phoned cellc call centre and i got moved from one consultant to another. when you call 8ta the person who answers usually takes care of your problem.

I think cellc should have put their house in order before embarking on "over advertising"

With 8ta when you recharge with 30 rand you buy 100mb plus you get 15 free minutes to any network anytime. (30 minutes to 8ta)

8ta is 95cents per minute and cell c 99cents per minute. both per second billing.

Lol I know the grass is not always greener on the other side.....

If you looking for really good call rates then Virgin Mobile is for you. Prepaid they offer THE BEST call rate in SA even beating Cellc.....
proof: http://www.virginmobile.co.za/our-rates/prepaid/prepaid/

8ta for me has the best internet and its cheap if you buy the R149 package and not bad if you decide to buy the cheaper bundles if you connect to 8ta towers!. You get great value for money in terms of the free 8ta more airtime but it still has a expiry date which is quite strict.

cell c free minutes expires quickly like at the end of that day depending on how much you recharged. 8ta Free airtime expire within 7 days from date of recharge.

Not true. If you recharge on Monday, it will expire on Sunday (7 days). And calls are much cheaper, small bundles (<500MB) more affordable.

Totally agree.... Their 3G is far superior than all the other networks.... I use MTN for ages and wow it sucked. Moved to cellc now and their bundles and minutes are really good with contracts but yes the 3G lacks speed....... 8ta has got basically average call rates but their internet is wow top class hey!!

guys , please remember that if you are using an android phone like samsung . you have to actually go to your wcdma settings and set it to "wcdma only" . this will ensure that you use your 3g on your phone and not 2g.. if it is only "wcdma preffered" then it will switch between 3g and 2g.. thus getting crap speeds...

Cell c use to be crap on my android galaxy ace but since i changed this setting its flying...

I used to rave about how amazing CellC is but this last year the internet has been unavailable. I'm not even talking about slow, I'm saying it's unusable. The worst part is that the problem is getting worse instead of better. Since I purchased my Giga200 package last November, the number of areas that have no throughout has increased. I've barely touched my data allocation so I'm feeling very ripped off.
