Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

PM sent, along with my usage stats according to my bandwidth monitor in support.

Again, this is a great service, and I've really enjoyed it this last month - I've certainly derived good benefit from it, that's for sure - but the accuracy of the monitoring software certainly appears to be a bit iffy at times, and sometimes by more than "a bit". From what I can tell from my usage stats, this error doesn't even occur all that often, at least not to any significant degree. But when it does happen, it ends up costing your subscribers money that it shouldn't. Thanks for looking into this Ronald, especially on a public holiday, and I really hope you can track down where the problem is.

Don't have enough bandwidth out here in the sticks so will need to wait till tomorrow.

We will be providing the detailed usage report directly to subs via self service.

It is unacceptable. I can "fix" my problem by getting into my car and buying (exorbitantly expensive) bandwidth again. I won't.

I won't waste valuable inner peace on this further today.

In helping out iBurst users on these forums, remotely & on your day off, you're setting an eye opening precedent by showing just how incompetent the normal iBurst support channel is. Thank you, I think.

Not sure if this information is already available but it would be nice if we could get a list of the ISPs that refuse to play nice. Suppose convincing people to move away from these ISPs if in some way they benefiting from em (cheap costs..) is another story... easy to look the other way if you're the one cashing in...

The list includes Telkom, Internet Solutions, MTN and Vodacom. Telkom and Vodacom have never particpated in JINX.

The point is that this is one of the biggest artificial cost burdens to bandwidth in ZA and forms a barrier to entry for a small player.

Buy a booster. If there is indeed a valid problem I'll reimbuse you out of my own pocket.

Looks like this happens to a lot of people, not just me. The other morning i got capped 5 am in the morning... I dunno what the usage report is gonna proof. Its just gonna show them we downloaded like wild monkeys to start ,and just give us the cold shoulder anyways.

Pretty much the exact same thing happened to me. I was doing some running repairs on my website and downloading small amounts during after hours only to wake up and be capped. I phoned the helpdesk, whom had no explanation except "You must be careful of where you browse and who uses your internet." I mean really?

You should have been capped at 11pm. Looking at why you were only capped at 5am.

I doubt it.... i think i had 350mb still to burn with a internet downloading manager to start exactly at 12:12am... so i cant see that :)

But who knows maybe your right.

Its just like R50 to boost again anyways

Gonna have a huge suprise if i get home tonight. Forgot to stop my downloads.

lol...:D

The stats aren't always upto date in real time. You have to give it sometime before you get the true remaining data total.

I always switch off my modem at 23h30. I log in at 00h05 and go straight to the iBurst website and check my remaining data. I write down the total and then I start downloading.

This method has worked for me, there has never been any missing data.

Now obviously not everyone can wait until 00h05 to log in, but for those that can this works well.

Heeeey, what happened to my DATA,

This morning i was sitting on 832mb before I left for work, i check now I'm left with356mbs on a PC that was switched off.

Whats even convinces me something is not smelling OK is the fact that my current stats are listed as Downloaded 356mbs, Uploaded 1335.43mb, Remaining 356mbs now i know i have been taking advantage of this i Burst Insomnia offer, i had close to 15gigs downloaded data.

What goes, I Burst getting back at me?, can i also get the report please

Thursday morning maintenance window

From 0:00 to 3:00 on Thursday morning (normal scheduled weekly change window) there will be major upgrades occuring on the iBurst Metroethernet network. Since the iBurst backhauls are on this network, subscribers will probably experience intermittent disconnects.

Apologies for the interruptions. Please don't sent Bubbles hate mail...
