Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

Ran a small download, surprise surprise my usage shows that I downloaded 130MB and this has been deducted from my cap.

Edit* See the usage report has now changed, it still shows downloaded amount however this amount has now not been deducted from my cap...
Maybe there is a glimmer of hope... will test it properly tonight when getting the new Mass Effect 2 DLC....

What the hell!!!
It's 7:25 and I am still on 64kbs speed, I have not recieved cap and I could not access the after hour service. What a fail way to start a new "service"

Downloaded 20.76 MB
Uploaded 3.39 MB
Total 24.15 MB
Remaining 0.00 MB
Purchased 0.0
Carried over 0.0

After midnight free internet stats

So, I ran a few tests this morning to see how the uncapped thing is going.

Downloaded 605.52 MB
Uploaded 16.35 MB
Total 621.87 MB
Remaining 6093.01 MB
Purchased 0.0
Carried over 973.0066

I'm on a 5GB account, had 973 carry over. Looks like the download adds up, but doesnt make the remaining amount go down. So it is working for me at least.

Steam: Updating L4D2 saw a fairly consistent 100KB/s, never dropping below 90KB/s really.
Torrents: 10 seeds (L4D2 maps): saw a peak of 75KB/s, but was averaging about 35KB/s. So if it's shaped, it's not too bad at least. Of course this is dependent on the seeds too.
Speedtest.net (to JHB): Got 0.9MB/s download, 0.22MB/s Upload, and about 155ms ping.

So far it's producing very good results, I'll continue to do tests throughout the 3 months to see if this service loses performance as more and more people start to use it.

Wouldn't believe anything that is imposed on the 1st of April

Wanted to test it...but got tired, will try tonight. Glad to see it worked for you though.

Hi Theor,

Can you please check your remaining quota and let me know if wrong.

Don't really think iburst would try to pull an April fools joke since they are already loosing customers. All this would do is that everyone who knows about the after hours service would use up their cap in one night, iburst would say april fools and all the users would demand their cap back or start cancelling contracts.

Edit: Finally received cap. Lets see what the guys experienced during the first night and go from there

Hi Qrox,
Can I check your account?
What is your user_id/UTID?

Hi Theor,

Can you please check your remaining quota and let me know if wrong.

Nope seems fine, my total remaining is correct based on my carry over plus my new allocation so it seems the little I downloaded last night did not count towards my cap... well eventually.
Tonight will be the real test with all the DLC I am going to download.

I saw the same; downloads are added up, but do not come off the remaining total.

I got similar results from Steam.

Remember these ISP's run an Application or Hardware App to check howmuch each user uses. So that they can "accurately" Bill or Deduct the cap used from your monthly Cap allowance.

I think all they do is, litterally. Just schedule the turn off of the "Monitoring Application" and start it again at 8am. Hence the app don't monitor your usage, won't take it off your allowance and only starts checking results when it startsup at 8am.

You can have your 2 cents back. :)

It looks like they are still keeping track of your usage, it is just not coming of your remaining total.

Mine is working to. Signed up with a news service but they were down last night when i wanted to test. This morning i let it ran from 7-8 am and my connection was between 600 and 1020 kbps. Ive got no probs. Thanks iBurst, good stuff.

Oi, they can take my 64k away and just give me this instead and ill be in heaven.:)

Rooigevaar, can you maybe comment on how you will differentiate usage between the uncapped hours and normal ones?

They've managed to get a semi-radioactive monkey that responds to the alignment of the sun, moon and earth which wakes it up at 23:58 every night. Then, using banana training, he presses a switch which turns off the monitoring system. What could possibly go wrong?

I think the monkey died from radiation poisoning?

May their bucket fell over from the provisioning system when the radioactive monkey kicked the bucket...

Bandwidth after midnight

Hi,

Is iBurst considering introducing this for longer periods over weekends and public holidays? Instead of 00:00 to 08:00 perhaps from 16:00 to 08:00?

Downloaded about 700MB in the free download window over 7 hours, so not too bad speeds.
