Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

Way to go, iBurst!

I must say that I am very impressed with iBurst since the revised packages were introduced, and this makes it even better. I don't miss the 64 Kbit/s service falling away, since on my package I only pay R59 per additional gig - a massive improvement over the R199 demanded previously.

Will definitely queue up a few downloads for the early hours and see how it goes. So long as the billing works out as it should, I think this is a very positive step forward. In the past 6 months or so even average latency has improved to the point that I can fire up CoD4 at just about any time of day or night for an acceptable (if not brilliant) online fragfest.

The wording of the press releases leads me to believe that this will be a paid service after the trial - I must say that to remain competitive with the plunging price of the various aDSL offerings, I hope that it is not too expensive.

Let's wait and see...

Almost there

Come on, almost there...these last few minutes always seem to take forever.

Jip. I just hope it works for me tonight. Last time my speed stayed at 64kbs so this time I'm hoping for better.

Windows updates are running at 1.3mbps! Nice, now just to make sure my usage isn't being deducted form my cap :D

Well, I've waited 10 minutes for the monkey to press the button. Here goes nothing (by nothing I mean I hope my cap isn't going anywhere) :D

Started downloading linux mint via torrent just to test speeds and it was DL'ing at 82kbps :D Just dont abuse this too much guys, maybe then it will become permanent and not a VAS :)

Darnit, did not get the daily message yesterday, and was (and am still not) able to log in to either the business or home site to check my usage. Oh well, I did carry over 8GB from last month ... Hope I don't get screwed, this is a lot of goodwill for iburst esp. based on the recent torrid experiences we've had.

A quick experiment with my UTD - having my hand within a few 10s of cm amd the speeds dropped to .4 -.6 Mbs otherwise it is >0.9Mbs. [edit] no in fact if I leave the PC area it drops and if I approach again it raises, but not too close. LOL looks like I have to sit here all night long!

Giving it a whirl here too - I don't usually check my daily usage reports but tonight I'm gonna suig down the NexentaStor 3.0 Community ISO and Ophcrack and scrutinise the hell outta my usage tomorrow .. will advise presently.

Oh, and FDM is showing download speed staying pretty steady at ~120kB/s ..yes, that's bytes, not bits.

I wish if I had such speeds as you!
Sigh... :( ~500kbps.
