Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

If I understand correctly that means that while on my 2gig package with the 128k vas I'll still have uncapped usage between 12am and 8am. Also anyone on a high end package will have uncapped usage from 12am till 8am whether they are using a VAS or not.

Correct me if I'm wrong :D

In English please????
I am trying to understand what all this means to me and how I might be able to use it (or whether I need to leave Iburst and go somewhere else).
I am currently on Freeflo which means I get virtually no data at all and buy bandwidth booster packages. I may be prepared to sign up for something like the 1 Gig or maybe the 2 Gig package but if I then have to still add on the VAS at another R199 (assuming it IS available at all - if I look at the packages page on the Iburst website, it seems to say that the Uncapped anytime packages only start from 5 Gig upwards?????) then I am already at between R348 and R397 per month - at which point I may as well go to MWEB and not have to lose sleep?
Or is there a way??

(BTW - Not referring to Mental-tree's post when I say "In English please!!!" - just quoting him re the 2 Gig package part)

The Uncapped Anytime VAS is available on Wireless 1 and upwards (and R348 is the entry level price to access Midnight to Morning postcap)

Sorry if it is not English! Maybe someone can help translate?

Firstly, this will be automatically available precap as a standard package feature with no opt-in required. The terms are that it can be used for free on the high end packages and not at all on the low end packages. For the packages in between it can be used at a variable usage discount.
This is the bit I'm referring to as being hard to understand... Where do the higher end packages start (as I think has already been asked)?
And what is a "variable usage discount"?

Rooigevaar, please clarify this for me...

If I'm currently on the 8GB package with NO VAS added, will I have the uncapped service from 00:00 - 08:00? Do I qualify for this service as is?

Thanks

The higher end packages start at the top which is Wireless 15.

Variable discount usage means that for example, during between 12:00 and 08:00 you can download 1 GB but only 400MB usage will be removed from your cap. The reason for this is that it is not feasible to provide it across the board for free but we still want subscribers to benefit.

come on ronald it is a bit confusing :)
so lets see if i got this right . wireless 5, 8 and 15 midnight to morning unlimited bandwidth is included for free?

It is confusing, seeing that the web site still reads:
If you choose a 5Gig package or upward, you can choose to pay an additional flat rate of R199 per month, and you’ll get unlimited internet access once your package data is finished, but at slightly slower speeds of up to 64kbps.
and
Uncapped Anytime @ 128 kbps
If you choose an 8Gig package or upward, you can choose to pay an additional flat rate of R249 per month, and you’ll get unlimited internet access once your package data is finished, at a speed of up to 128 kbps.

I will be the first to jump on the V.A.S. service, but I do not want to phone and apply only to be told something different than what you are posting Ronald.

What? A high end package is only Wireless 15? What about Wireless 5 or 8 doesn't that count as a high end package?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm on Wireless 5 (R445) if I want midnight to 08h00 I have to fork out an extra R199 for the VAS 64kbps so that I have the privilege to use the midnight service?

It's late, but the way I understand it is that while you are still within your 5GB cap you will still get the midnight service for free.

If you've finished your 5GB cap you either have to top up, or purchase one of the 64kbps or 128kbps uncapped anytime VASs to get the midnight service.

Ok, so having slept on it, my attempt to "translate" is as follows (based on the answers so far):
If you are on ANY package EXCEPT Wireless 15, all data you use, including after hours, comes straight off your cap.
So if you try to make use of the after hours option, after day 1 (For Wireless 1 and Wireless 2) you are throttled to 64/128 speeds FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH EXCEPT between 12 and 8 when you will have full speed.
For Wireless 5 and 8, lets say you download about 3 Gigs a night - this will count as around 1.2 Gigs off your total, so you will be throttled from about day 4 and day 7 respectively.

I REALLY HOPE I am wrong on this because if I'm right its PATHETIC.

My understanding:

Uncapped Anytime VAS is: 64Kb or 128Kb throttled speed once you hit your cap.

From next month added to the 64/128 "uncapped" option is that you go FULL speed, 100% 'free bandwidth' between 00:00 and 08:00. (Question is: Do you need cap left to go full speed?)

Added, for FREE to all packages are the following:
15GB - between 00:00 and 08:00 bandwidth usages only counts 20% (not sure on the %) towards your cap - eg. download 100MB, only 20MB will come off your cap and 80MB will fall under "after hours usage".

8GB - between 00:00 and 08:00 bandwidth usages only counts 40% (not sure on the %) towards your cap - eg. download 100MB, only 40MB will come off your cap and 60MB will fall under "after hours usage".

5GB - between 00:00 and 08:00 bandwidth usages only counts 60% (not sure on the %, but it's higher than the 8GB option) - eg. Download 100MB, 60MB goes to normal cap, 40MB goes to "after hours usage"

2GB - between 00:00 and 08:00 bandwidth usages only counts 80% (not sure on the %, but it's higher than the 8GB option) eg Dwo nload 100MB, 80MB goes to cap, 20MB goes to "after hours usage"

I believe this is the idea that iBurst is trying to get across.

Correct me if I'm wrong?

ok maybe this isnt the right place to post this but im new to iburst and i have been reading this post for the last few days and im starting to get confused. what is VAS and how exactly does this effect is? if the 00:00 to 08:00 service goes on VAS does that mean we have to pay extra to use this service? and finally what is the uncapped anytime VAS? sorry as i said i`m new to this and i would really like someone to clear this up so i can understand this abit more :)

VAS - Value added service

Uncapped anytime
You pay extra (R200 for the "uncapped anytime" 64Kb vas) and what happens is that when you hit your monthly limit on usage, instead of being cut off, you can still use the internet but at a much slower rate [just faster than a dialup connection]. There is also an option of a 128Kb VAS, but it's R250 extra and you have to be on a higher package (5GB or higher)

Free after hours bandwidth
Whats happening is that from next month, the free bandwidth after hours is changing. If you have "uncapped anytime" you will still get free bandwidth after hours. So if you pay the R200, you will get free after hours bandwidth always. If you dont have the uncapped anytime vas, the free bandwidth after hours will have limitations and rules. See my previous post for what I believe iburst will be doing
(all of this still needs to be cleared up though)

Well done eltherza.
You got the general idea although the percentage usage discount are not correct/finalized.

"iBurst Broadband Simplified" Yeah, right...

Why can't they make things simple, firstly they said you could only have VAS on wireless 5 and up.
Then they changed their mind and said you can have VAS on Wiireless 1 and up.
But they forget to change that info on their website. Then they wonder why everyone gets confused.

Now it's the midnight service, just keep it simple don't confuse your clients.

I don't want a percentage saving, I want full 100% saving. Then I am back every morning counting my data usage making sure that only a percentage was removed/counted.

Then we wonder why the staff at iBurst don't know what we are talking about when we phone in...:p

I disagree with you in this regard.
If one wish to opt for after hour service, s/he can subscribe for VAS "Uncapped any time" and enjoy both worlds :
1. Uncapped during the day with limited speed.
2. Uncapped during after hours full speed.
Note that any one from Wireless 1 and up can subscribe for uncapped service.

If one does not wish to opt for the VAS and avoid the hassel of calling the call centre, then s/he will get "After hour discount" for free based on their package.
